I'd do Camby for Scola. Not sure the Blazers would have any interest. Clear up more cap room for 2012. Would probably allow us to bring back Chuck Hayes. More PT for Patterson.

Think this team needs to move Scola. He's a good player but there is talent behind him and he keeps us too relevant. Think they should also look into a K-Mart deal centered around Asik + Charlotte pick.

Glad to hear D-Mo stays in Europe. Glad to hear we wont over pay anyone. Disappointed to hear they still have plans for the 2009 busts.

Chuck owes the Rockets big time. He would'nt have a NBA career if the Rockets never gave him a chance, its not like he was drawing interest from anyone else at the time we picked him up. Even after picking him up, we gave him so much opportunities on the court when no other team knew who he was.

Chuck got opportunities on the court because the Rockets had no Center. If Yao had been able to play, or any other Center other than Hasheem Thabeet or Jordan Hill (I guess you can count him) would have been on the roster, Chuck would have gotten very little playing time... kind of like how he did in 2008-09.

He doesn't owe this team anything.

I think that debt has been paid off with his under appreciated work to the team at an insanely low contract. Pay the man or he walks away. Plenty of contenders would love to have Chuck on their team as a defensive specialist with an improving offense. Heck at the MLE, he's still a bargain (which is something I can see the Blazers doing if they amnesty Roy).

The metrics showed that DM actually rebounded and defended fairly well the last year or so... but was over-rated as a shooter from the perimeter.

I also remember McHale saying something similar about DM projecting as a solid rebounder, defender and post player.

I have seen a fair amount of his games and I believe he was not used properly last year, often being used on the perimeter, which was not his strength and hurt his rebounding and defense.

Morey did not say Donatas' stats were 18-8. He said they were 18-8 "Translated." There are separate formulas to translate NCAA and Euro stats into NBA stats. Different minutes...different pace...etc. There are probably formulas for each Euro league and NCAA conference, as well.

Like Clutch said, Morey has many computers.

First, we let Chuck Hayes go, then we talk the goal to make the playoff. I do not think so unless we get Nene or another big man, but we all know that Morey will never overpay another player, so there is little chance to get Nene who is seeking a big pay day. I would say: just play young players on the team, plan for a long term.

    Clutch,

    Question:

Where did you meet the woman who fed you prime rib on a private plane and then screen your calls? I'd like to get her number

    Thanks,
    Yoyo

Clutch, you should be a professional journalist. THis article is pure genius, both content-wise and literature-wise. You would spank Dick Justice in the ass!

Sounds like we're going to be picking 14th next year.

Why? Both Denver and New Orleans will be appreciably worse, and the Rockets had one of the league's best records after the All-Star break. Those factors combine to tell me that the Rockets have a very real shot at one of the last playoff spots in the West, even without Chuck Hayes.

So, it's quite possible that the Rockets will not have their own pick next year.

And frankly, that'll be just fine by me.

I really wanted a chance to draft one of those stud centers in next year's draft.

Drummond or Davis would have been my dream scenario.

    No Chuck, no playoffs!

Honestly, if Chuck leaves, the key to the season is Patrick the Patterson. He better grow up really fast and handle 35 mpg.

I'm sure Hill, Thabeet and Pats could hold it down if necessary. Lets just hope it doesn't get to that.:(

If it's any consolation, the Rockets likely never had a shot at them, anyway.

Seriously, it's better for your sanity just to root for the Rockes to win games rather than to hope for losses and the 6% chance they'd have at one of those guys.

Just hope for losses in New York and a shot at a quality mid- to late lottery pick from the Knicks.

Hope for losses to the Knicks? Please, they will make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs at least.

    You rather us stay mediocre?

Wow, i hate to tell you this but you are kind of a downer. I mean, you like every other team, but the Rockets. I have been trying to remember you ever showing any love for the team and i can't. Even after i've put these real facts in my sig.
I can't believe you show more love for Memphis than you do the Rockets and this team has been smashing them over the past 2 seasons, 7-1. It's almost like you are in Memphis. New York is no different. As you have seen, Chuck slows Amare down and now we even have people to slow Melo down(Williams, Morris, Blakely, Chuck).

Not sure why everyone is speculating that Dwight and Paul want to head over to the Knicks to play with Amare and Melo. Anyways the East isn't strong enough to not prevent them from getting into the playoffs so that top 5 protected pick we're supposed to get from NY won't have too much value.

Pretty sure they aren't going to get too far in the play offs unless one of those two actually start playing some defense.

All I'm hoping for is for some improvement in the players we traded for and at least one of the two (Parsons or Morris) to pan out into a good player.

The NYK could suffer debilitating injuries to their two star players (hm, why does that scenario sound familiar?), in which case the draft pick would be golden.

I'm not saying that I wish they had injuries. I'm just saying that it can happen as we have painfully learned over the years.
