I don't recall Still ever hitting the field to be honest. Covington seems athletic enough that he could slide to the DE position and be bookend with Watt. Might have to slim down just a bit. Which would allow us to draft a DT/NT in the first round to plug inside. We'll find out next week. I'm pretty excited because I actually have NO idea what the Texans are looking for in the first round this year.
Here's the list I found of who they met with last year. Eventual drafted round is the number at the end. At least last year, it appears there is a reasonably high correlation between the types of players they visit with, and how they draft. Perhaps less so, who they actually met with, though they did meet with their 2nd and 3rd rounders before the draft. To remind, they went CB, LB, WR, WR, LB, DL, RB. [rquoter] CB Marcus Peters, Washington - 1st CB Josh Shaw, USC - 4th CB Doran Grant, Ohio State - 4th CB Tray Walker, Texas Southern - 4th S Ibraheim Campbell, Northwestern - 4th S Cedric Thompson, Minnesota - 5th LB Shaq Thompson, Washington - 1st LB Benardrick McKinney, Mississippi State - 2nd DE Randy Gregory, Nebraska - 2nd LB Jordan Hicks, Texas - 3rd LB Neiron Ball, Florida - 5th WR Jaelen Strong, Arizona State - 3rd WR Ty Montgomery, Stanford - 3rd WR Chris Conley, Georgia - 3rd WR Jamison Crowder, Duke - 4th DL Mario Edwards Jr., Florida State - 2nd DT Gabe Wright, Auburn - 4th DT Tyeler Davison, Fresno State - 5th DT Joey Mbu, Houston - UFA OT Chaz Green, Florida - 3rd OT Laurence Gibson, Virginia Tech - 7th RB Todd Gurley, Georgia - 1st RB Terrell Watson, Azusa Pacific - UFA QB Brett Hundley, UCLA - 5th [/rquoter]
Thank you for this, repped. This is very interesting, weird that they didnt meet with Lockett and everyone said thats who they wanted. Also didnt even meet with who they picked 1st round. Does anybody have a list of who they have met with this year?
It looks like they only met with one CB that was drafted in the 1st three rounds. And most notably they didn't meet with the CB they eventually drafted in the 1st round. I think we can only take so much from the visits. Look at the list from 2014 http://www.scout.com/nfl/texans/story/1420014-texans-2014-pre-draft-workout-and-visit-list I don't see a lot of guards in there, yet they drafted one at the beginning of the 2nd round.
They didn't t meet with their eventual 1st round pick either so take it for what it is. I think they meet with players that they have more questions on. If they see enough on tape and in the combine, I don't think they meet with them. Just my thought.

Or Cleveland wants to trade back into the 1st or Carolina wants to trade up to get a CB (maybe William Jackson?) I would love for the Texans to trade down and pick up an extra 3rd. Regardless grab the best dlineman available.
Man, some solid work by you guys! It's much appreciated. Would you rather go offense(either O-Line, TE, WR) or defense in the first?
Covington was a good rotational guy last year, but he'll need a jump of a magnitude I couldn't possibly fathom for him to start. Doesn't have the consistent play strength or stamina to do it right now. And Still has never played for the Texans. He was just signed at the end of last season to guarantee him being in camp. He could barely crack the Bengals rotation, and was constantly shuffling between their 52 and practice squad. He's only ever had a 1/2 sack and a handful of tackles. This will be his fourth year. The only reason I think he's stuck around this long is because of his daughter's horrible situation. This will be his 4th season, and if he doesn't show a lot more improvement, I think it will probably be his last.
Covington is too short to play end. You have to be able to stack and shed. I.E. reach into the offensive lineman's chest with long arms, stand him up, and then push him to one side or the other. Also the height enables you to see both of your gaps so you know which way to shed. Ideally you want a long 6'6" type guy, though teams will often settle for 6'4" with long arms. 6'1" or 6'2" isn't going to cut it. Covington on the Texans is a sub package interior lineman and a backup NT only unless he undergoes a sudden growth spurt. Traditional 3-4 teams favor tall defensive linemen much more than one-gapping 4-3 teams.
They may not have the chance but if available Doctson HAS to be the pick. Haven't read the thread comments yet but I'm sure bobby has been tugging on some losers coat tail. Take this from the guy that would have taken Khalil Mack or Teddy Bridgewater over Jadaveon 'Clown'ey. Yep I started this sh** early!!!! Go Texans!
It's nice that you killed your credibility in the middle of a draft pick suggestion. Despite your previous bad judgement, I don't see a problem with Doctson, but I'd kind of rather Treadwell or Corey Coleman if they just want a burner.
Froggie here/// Doctson catches everything. But we need to replace Crick more than Strong. If Buckner fell to #8 like on Kiper, you would have to think about trading up. They could replace Gordon @22.
