And as far as who the Texans grab in the 1st, I'd expect them to stick to what they've always done. They'll take a defensive player, whether it be a safety or a front 7 position is unkown. The biggest need to me is the d-line. You've got old ass Wilfork, and no DE starting opposite of Watt. Covington shows flashes, but they're misguided use of him at NT is perplexing. He's a pass rusher, and is far too light to be a run stuffing NT in this 3-4. Pagan took a step back from showing promise as a backup rotation player, to someone you can't put on the field. Dunn was used too little to know anything about him. This D-line is so damn thin. I'd consider using multiple picks in this draft to fill it out. Even if they bring back Crick. He's even dropped off a little, and needs a push to either improve, or at least be a rotational guy like he started off being.
At some point don't you think he'd realize that his sources are feeding him bad intel? He should just say the opposite of what the FO tells him.
He doesn't have sources. That was in the past. Now he just spits his "educated" opinion and interviews. He does have years of covering the NFL but it doesn't apply to breaking news stories.
If we were taking the BPA at 22 Nkemdiche would probably be the pick. Dropping out a window is dropping one of the top players in the draft. I think playing with Watt would cure any "plays off" issues. It could yield one of the top 2 or 3 front 7's in football. It would be a "must pick" if Crick gets a huge offer elsewhere. But the Texans probably won't. It would be interesting to see his psyche profile. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:14365496 http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ains-hotelwindow-fall-says-tunsil-was-present
He doesn't even pretend to have sources. When he's asked what they are thinking he'll be honest and say he has no idea. He didn't have sources in the old days either. He had friendships with players and coaches so he would get personal stories to relay, but he's never been someone who could break stories/leaks. He has repeatedly said things like "anyone who says they know what a team is thinking is lying" lol.
I'm not sure why you think playing with Watt would eliminate taking plays off. Watt doesn't force himself on his teammates as a mentor/leader/etc. He's admitted that he has never "helped" Clowney because he has never asked.
Oh, and to answer the thread, assuming everyone you listed is on the board, Conklin is the one I want.
I think so, and it's just a hunch. But, I can see us hearing a lot about his story from commentators during the games this coming season. Because he's going to be on the field contributing. He was devastated on Hard Knocks last season when he learned he wouldn't play in 2015. Too much hard work, dedication, resilience, and perseverance for him not to succeed. Just my opinion. And give me Coleman... Speed kills.
I'm thinking if he were to be around greatness it would rub off on him. Plus getting him with Clowney this early in their careers could give us a top defense for years.
I know we just got a RB, but if Henry is still on the board at our pick in the 2nd(doubtful), the Texans should pick him.
They absolutely should get a d-lineman in the first three rounds. Just too much talent to pass up on. They might even go d-line in the first and then center in the second with WR or RB in 3rd.
