For people who have watched all 88 Rocket games last year, we know that benching Lin is MCH's selecting Harden over Lin as his starting PG/SG, not Lin over Beverly. Beverly is there for his defense and spot-up shooting, to complement Harden.

It's obvious that Harden and Lin clashed on court last season over ball control, and it's logical for MCH to finally formalize Harden as his starting "floor general", and Lin as the backup "floor general".

This is good for Lin, because he now has a MCH-sanctioned role to attack and create whenever he comes in.

This is good for Harden, because he can play less 40-minute games, protecting him from injuries which is already a problem.

This is good for Beverly, because he should be paid more than 800K a year, and the NBA is starting to see that.

    my 2 cents

The more appropriate song would be Ebony and Ivory.

This is a strong point that too many of us are quick to dismiss because Harden is the franchise player. Perhaps as Lin continues his surge, Harden will learn to respect and trust his teammates to complement HIS game around the TEAM's strengths as opposed to the other way around.

Exhibit 1 of our current state of affairs is that incredibly frustrating iso sequence where he dribbles out the clock only to pass it at the absolute last second to the player at the wing.

That is not what an effin franchise player should do.

Perhaps there is some hope: "Basketball players are made in the summer, but basketball teams are made in the winter."

So, Lin, Harden start - first play stoppage Beverley comes in for Lin at 10:02.

    Makes sense.

If you're putting in Brooks in anything other than an emergency, you're doign it wrong.

Morey did mention on his weekly radio 790 call that the decision has to do with Jeremy being able to create off the bench and that "you can't go wrong with either Jeremy or Patrick as PG". That's as far a statement as any I have heard.

There was another PG controversy that seems to slip people's attention. Maybe it wasn't as incendiary, but there was much ado over Brooks and Lowry or Lowry and Dragic. Rockets have always had a PG controversy. possibly with the exception of Calvin Murphy.

Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony.

I just don't see what the big deal is. Beverley's cool, but the whole thing should just be as simple as start your best players at each position; meaning Lin at PG and lose the TT, bring in Casspi or Jones at PF. Give them a couple of months to learn how to play with each other and then you start looking at where the drop offs are and address them.

Seriously, having two people in the starting line-up last season averaging 3+ turnovers a game was in many cases too much to overcome.
