I would. I'd rather sub Morris and Goran (which the owner may really like) for the pick but the pick would not be a deal breaker.

Fully agree. Guys, look at what Morey managed to scrap together with two max players sitting on the sidelines. Landry, Brooks, Lowry, Scola, etc... all the while, his directive was to build around Yao and McGrady.

In spite of that, look at what he was able to do!

Give me 1 healthy star that could mean the chance at another (Howard), and I'm all in. Morey will be able to fill holes quick. With good talent that fits. Not weird puzzle pieces like you saw the Heat bring-in (Bibby, Miller, Howard).

No more living on our knees! Die standing!

Does Boston have Green? I thought they rescinded their contract to them. Also, Batum isn't a stud. He's a solid player, but not even currently a starter. Lowry at his current level should bring back more than Batum.

Also, very hard to imagine Williams and Howard both foregoing potential $25+ million of salary by signing outright as free agents.

Remember, both have player options to stay with their existing teams for another year at huge salary numbers. While neither would want to do that, and would prefer a longer term contract on a team of their choosing, under the new CBA walking outright as a free agent means smaller annual raises and i believe one year less on the guaranteed contract length then signing with a team that holds your bird rights... though I'm not an expert on this, I recall the number previously discussed when CP3 action was happening was about a $25ish million difference??

Which is why I find any theory that ends with sign Williams/Howard as a free agent dubious.

The reason Howard's list of teams he'd be willing to be traded to includes the Nets, Clippers, Lakers and Mavs is because those teams already have one superstar. Howard wants to play with other superstars (and win), AND get paid.

There are certainly worse trades, and IF it brought us Howard then absolutely even as much as I enjoy watching Lowry... But if it just gives us a "chance" at Howard, then that is a lot more risky. I don't see us being significantly better with just Williams even if we only had to give up Lowry, and there is good reason to wonder why Williams would extend here if there wasn't another star practically guaranteed to join him.

Yes. We're on that treadmill of mediocrity and won't be going anywhere anytime soon. We're overflowing with decent rotation players who won't be able to take us anywhere.

up until this season, I wouldn't have thought twice about it and said yes.

D-Will has been the best PG in the league for the last 3 years. In all honesty I thought CP3 had lost all his heart for the game.

I don't know who the best PG in the league is now, but I do know that Lowry is top 5 in every important statistical category.

    WE WANT DWIGHT!!

The real question to ask is are we contenders as is with Kyle Lowry and the rest of the gang? The answer unfortunately is no. Can we be a contender with Deron Williams? Yes due to the fact that it increases our chances of getting Howard. At worst, we don't get Howard, and we end up with a wash.

I really like Kyle, my favorite rocket and it's hard to say that but even with how well he's been playing, I just don't see the rockets being anymore than a 7-8 seed play off team at best.

I know folks love Lowry ... And his contract ... But the perception of having a superstar on your team is priceless ... If I'm the Rockets front office ... That's the only reason Id deal for Williams, because the Rockets are getting the same production from Lowry ... Having a perceived superstar on a team opens doors, and would make great players that are entering the draft and/or are free agents to take a serious look @ Houston.

I certainly understand Dwight's desire to play with another "superstar", but if he was willing to put a little faith in Lowry and Morey, it certainly would be a MUCH easier path to just forget Williams and trade for Dwight, if he agrees to sign with us.

    Scola, Martin, Parsons, Hill, Morris

    for Dwight, Hedo

    PG: Lowry, Dragic
    SG: Lee, [ ]
    SF: Hedo, Williams
    PF: Patterson
    C: Dwight, Dalembert

Not a championship team, but certainly a solid playoff team that hopefully Morey could build on. And one hell of a defensive team

Orlando would also still be solid, though also not a championship team.

Erm you guys keep making so many assumptions here:

    1. Lowry's performance is not sustainable
    2. D-Will's performance is just a slump
    3. Lowry is a role-player, DM can find guys like him easily
    4. DH will come to Houston if DW goes here
    5. None of the other players we give up will amount to anything.

Any of those assumptions are wrong, and we just screwed ourselves.

I think we have enough of a sample size that people who assume this just really don't know what they're watching.

Only way you do this deal as others have stated is if there is more in the works such as Howard. I don't think it's worth it at this point to get Williams if we get nothing to pair with him.

I'm sure fans in every city with a mediocre at best team is saying the exact same thing.
