to me, it seems like once he misses 2 in a row, he starts pressing and its downhill from there.

He shot 67% from the line his rookie season. After that, he was right around 60% every season afterwards. It's only been in the last 2 seasons where he's been truly awful, below 50%.

Perhaps his back injury played a major factor. If he's recovered fully, he has a chance to get back up to his pre-injury %age.

Clutch - should we start thinking it's intentional now? :(

He shoots FTs from the shoulders up, doesn't bend his knees at all. I'll plead again: get Rick Barry to teach DH granny style.

Rockets should hire Calvin Murphy to help the roster how to shoot FTs.

Some things you can't teach, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Didn't Howard lose a FT competition to a middle age family wife not long ago? I believe she was the daughter of a LA Times writer, a stay-home mom?

That whole video was very funny, and embarrass. His shot was as ugly as you could image, and that woman was not any better, but she still beat him with easy.

I don't think cal can help dwight or any of the rockets bigs. At 5'9" his shooting mechanics are going to be very different from that of a 7': longer arms, longer legs, bigger hands, different arc; everything will be completely different.

It certainly couldn't hurt to try though.

Honestly, dwight has his hands full already getting used to a new team and a new offense.

the important thing from McHale's interview is the last question about Harden and Beverly's defense. Imagine if Harden does become a two way player and Dwight does develop a post game!! This will be scary!

Dwight was shooting left-handed during that competition.

    Clutch,

Is Dwight Howard going to wear his sleeved posture shirt all season? Please tell him that the shirt makes his shoulders look less impressive. Thanks.

Shooting mechanics are the same no matter how tall you are.

    It's just common sense really.

In studying the art of basketball shooting and the secrets of shooting, basketball coach Bob Fisher has discovered that body types, hand size and finger lengths are important in teaching youth, high school and college basketball players how to be successful shooters.

one thing i notice about McHales mannerisms is that he can be taken for being dismissive of the younger members of his team, when I think he is really just being realistic and lowering expectations.

Many Lin fans feel like McHale talks about Jeremy without much respect, but I think he sounds the same when talking about any rookie player, as seen in this interview.

I'm sure behind closed doors he is a supportive father figure type coach.
