When I saw the Spurs best players weren't playing I didn't think anything of it initially. But now that I see the Spurs are in 10th place and not even in the playoff picture, I find it rather disrespectful to rest your guys knowing the stakes. Ppl praise Pop for being this hard-nosed, no nonsense, military drill sargent type coach. But he has always been arrogant & at times mean spirited to me. Popovich may be a GOAT coach, but that doesn't mean he isn't a self centered, cocky d-bag either
Joe Johnson has been injured for most of the season, I think he is starting to get in game shape and getting used to the players and coaches. Hopefully he will get some of his quickness in his legs back, focus especially on defense. Joe Johnson is a bit introverted. Hopefully his Confidence comes out, gets comfortable with the team and plays well.
its not disrespect its a tactic and kinda compliment he knows he has no chance of beating us even at full strenght so he purposefully changes the complexion of the game trying to get rockets relaxed and more vulnerable just like in game 6 its a combination of playing possum and sour grapes he pretends to being death to get away with a win and if he loses the game well he didnt wanted the game in the first place
I think he strategically gave up this game for next, which is not bad idea considering it’s hot and his stars are old
How did 6'0" Chris Paul hustling back to stop a 2-on-1 break not make the NBA TV highlights? Show some respect for defense, people.
That was pretty amazing. Of course, considering the Spurs were missing layups left and right, I guess they figured it was more cause of that than good defense.
yep, every game he has awesome defensive plays where he amazingly and out of blue just wills himself into the possession of the ball
Yeah, I mentioned it earlier in the thread. Their upcoming schedule is brutal, even with Kawhi back and a bunch of home games on the slate. Tonight vs Orlando is the only thing close to an easy win. And they need their full compliment of players(sans Kawhi) to ensure they get that one. The Spurs have won only 2 of their last 11 games. One was at Cleveland(go figure) and the other was at home against the Grizzlies by a mere 2 points. The same Grizzlies team that's lost 17 in a row and is tanking about as hard as any team in recent memory. It seemed almost unfathomable a few weeks ago, but the Spurs really could miss the postseason if the other teams ahead of them don't falter.
The NBA Daily that came out this morning didn't mention Rockets beating the Spurs and finishing 19-1 in their last 20; instead they focused on Spurs dropping to 10th. I guess that's a big story, but maybe they're just bored of our wins now.
If we were in 10th place and fighting for a playoff seed, and this were JB or Mchale pulling our best players for "rest" purposes, you guys would be LIVID. But because it's Pop ppl give him a pass smh. You can't rest guys who aren't injured if you're down the final stretch trying to get into the playoffs. Pop is not above the NBA
