2 x 01ers and a 99er in the first 4 posts, and R2K starting the thread, what the heck is going on? I just hope Kevin Martin comes out firing.
I think we have a better chance than it seems. We're only 4.5 games behind SAS. They've lost 5 of their last 10. They're only 12-13 on the road this year. And short of Tim Duncan, they're playing as inconsistently as any team this year. We're in a tailspin, but we're due a win sooner than later. We just need to find our rhythm and we'll be in this game. Cheer up Rox fans! After we beat these guys tonight, we'll all be in much higher spirits! hehe...man, I sure hope so anyway.
The thing about Brooks picking up his dribble at the free throw line and not being able to see the pass is because he is slightly out of control, he started the drive too far out, and at the last minute he realizes he has to stop because the post defense has beat him to the stop. The whole key is don't stop, hesitate, keep the dribble, change direction, then create a gap with his quickness. If he does this, his head is up, and he can scan the floor. When Brooks goes pell mell with his head down there is no way he can scan. When you watch Nash and Paul they hop, skip, and dance.........in the paint. They are probing with their head up. Brooks has the physical tools to do what Nash does. He has the handle to stay upright with his head up, and doodle around in the paint. I don't see why he doesn't do that. If the argument is that Adelman's offense doesn't call for this style of PG play, that Adelman's offense is predicated on ball movement and cutting then why is Brooks dribbling around the perimeter waiting for pics? Kevin Martin showed more ball movement and cutting in 2 games than any other person. There were plays the other night where Martin curled up from the baseline to receive off the pics and Brooks dribbled right away from it. Totally stupid. I love Brooks skillset. I'm disappointed in his facilitation of the team, even though he throws up 8 or 9 assists on occasion.
Wish we had Kyle back, good luck tonight guys. Way off topic question, I have a debate with some friends who question how many fans the Rockets have, about how many people are on clutchfans, I'm going to show her how many fans they have, and numbers will help since she is a rocket scientist, thanks for any help.
Brooks is going into the paint too fast and as you said, a bit out of control. Like some have opined, he needs to slow down, change speeds. Notice how Paul and Nash do it: it is almost like slow motion, but it is effective because at the first sign of being trapped, they pass the ball to an open man.
