Emotional bias basically means that an event occurs in an unusual or spectacular way, so you remember it more vividly. It's like people giving undue weight to a spectacular dunk vs a quiet lay up, or they remember that huge block, but forget the sequence where staying in front of their man results in a miss.

For example, we pay attention to Jeremy Lin so we try to track his shooting. We remember spectacular shots by other players, so assume they are shooting better than Jeremy Lin.

Here's some interesting tidbits.

Notable Point Guards with similar or worse FG% than Jeremy Lin THIS season...

Jeremy Lin - 40.7%

Russell Westbrook - 41.1%
Greivis Vasquez - 40.8%
Kyle Lowry - 40.6%
Monta Ellis - 40.1%
Mario Chalmers - 39.7%
Jameer Nelson - 39.7%
Shaun Livingston - 39.2%
Deron Williams - 38.8%
Toney Douglas - 37.4%
Norris Cole - 37.0%
A.J Price - 36.6%

Now, FG% isn't weighted for 3 pointers or fouls, so even those percentages are misleading. However, it does show that our memories of how often the ball goes into the hole are generally NOT as accurate as we think, especially when comparing them IN season.

So, stop worrying about an air ball. A miss is a miss is a miss. And the reality of statistical percentages means that sometimes those misses will be an air ball, whether your names happens to be Kobe, Lebron, Parsons or Jeremy Lin.

Evan Turner has been playing so well lately, both with and without Jrue Holiday on the floor.

I like him as a player and I like that he has overcome so much adversity in his life, particularly when it came to health problems as a kid.

But tonight? He is the enemy.

Look for Evan to take advantage of the size mismatch at PG by backing down Lin and Douglas in the high post and on the baseline.

The Rockets' help defense will have to be quick to recognize this, as Turner's midrange game and turnaround jumper on the lines is becoming deadly, and will be a primary source of the Sixers' points tonight if they have any hope of winning.

"So many times, I thought he wasn't going to make it," Iris said as she watched her son play at the Garden. "People walk up to me now, strangers with articles or just to tell stories, and tell me how much they look up to my son, and I think, 'How far can this go?' For the first year of his life, I kept asking, 'Lord, when is he going to get better?'"

A strapping 10-pound baby at birth, Turner had chicken pox, pneumonia, asthma and measles before he celebrated a birthday. When a measles epidemic swept through Chicago in the winter of 1989, Iris found her baby so ill he couldn't even cry. She called a doctor who, presumably figuring she was exaggerating, suggested she come to the office. Guided instead by her mother's instincts, Iris took him to the emergency room.

"Doctors took one look at him and just took him away," Iris said. "They had tubes and machines and everything there in a second. He nearly died."

Turner survived the measles but had severe breathing problems. Surgery to remove his adenoids and tonsils eventually eased the struggles, but for the first year of his life, Turner slept on his mother's chest every night because when she put him on his back in his crib, he would almost stop breathing.

Continuing through his Job-like childhood, Turner survived being hit by a car as a 3-year-old (his mother saw him flip in the air and land on his head, but Turner walked away with just a concussion and stitches).

He also struggled to speak as a toddler. Saddled with oversize baby teeth and a difficult overbite, he was capable of talking, but only his older brother, Darius, could understand him. Even Iris would turn to Darius for interpretation and translation from the boy who called her "Bobba" because he couldn't say "Momma."

I do notice his shots have a really high arc compare to last year. Maybe a new shooting strategy to get the ball over taller defenders?

In a way I'm glad Jeremy is averaging very few points considering his FG% is so low right now. If he were chucking it away with the same FG%, the whole team's offense would be worse. At this point, the Rox are top 3 in Points scored and Lin doesn't really need to score for the Rox to win. Of course, Lin still HAS to improve his shooting/scoring but for right now it's not really a difference maker with so many other scoring options on the team. As long as he stays consistent with his defense and passing, he's doing a solid job.

We should beat them because the 6ers play in the Eastern Conference. I can't believe we are still criticizing Lin, remember for a few games he wasn't finishing games and for a few games, he was standing there because Harden became PG. Lin is not a robot, just let him try to find his place. And if we don't succeed with him at PG, we will find another one until then let him play at PG. Last time I checked, we were 12-12. I'm quite sure more than half of us thought we would be sitting in the basement looking up.

Coming from a Chicago, waiting for Drose to show up. Having the opportunity to watch magic happen makes the Houston Rockets fun to watch.

Young teams are really inconsistent. Fans love young teams because they are exciting & fun & they have the promise of potential but they are also inconsistent & frustrating as hell. I don't know what to expect from most of our roster on a daily night for the most part except for Harden will be Harden, Asik will be Asik & Lin's defense will be good. Aside from that everything else will be a toss up.

I really love this Rockets roster. It's got that raw energy of a great college team, but playing and competing at the NBA level.

I hope to see full line-up of each opponent and see how we measure about each team. We just need to play our best bball and if we still lose, so be it. No big deal. We're rebuilding and our players are learning.

Not wishing for an asterisk win, unless it's a team that I hate.

Ask me again closer to the end of the season when we're making a push for the playoffs :grin:

Great!

type of guy Jeremy guards best actually. 1s, 2s, and 3s who think they will back him down and overpower him. He struggles more with little quick guys.

Actually I'm not surprised by the Raptor loss. For whatever reason, we just cannot win there. The last time we did win there was in the 06-07 season. However, we've had the Knicks number for quite sometime. We've beat them 8 times in a row.
