ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Warriors 5/20/2018 (Western Conference Finals, Game 3)

Need Golden State players to give Rockets bulletin board material in the post-game...as if it might help somehow.

 

Probably the only way we can trade private Ryan is with Eric Gordon.

I honestly don't he does right now, just wanted to be MVP. But once he turns 32 or 33 then he'll probably want at least 1

 

EG has value but he needs to play like Thompson. Catch and shoot. Don't dribble. Don't pass. Anderson is an albatross along the lines of Matt Maloney.

 

That b*stard is incredibly biased. He's also stupid. It got to where I had to just turn the sound off.

It was actually really nice to see LMAM hit a spot-up three in garbage time. That's potentially a huge development going into Game 4. He was so good for us this year and we REALLY need him right now.

What opened up the game in the 3rd Q?

Tonight was all about defense & taking care of the ball. When we do & not giving anything easy, that's what this is all about. If we can defend at that level & protect the ball, generally we'll be in good shape.

Kevin Looney 1st Q defense. What has he been for you in this series?

He's good in this series because of all the isolations. He's good at that. He's gotten better & better. Thrilled with how he, Nick Young have played. How well can we defend without fouling? They make it hard but a lot of guys have stepped up and played good defense. Looney was good tonight.

What is Iguodala's role in "force"?

I think he's OK. Banged on the knee, said he'll be alright. When we're right, playing how we're supposed to, he's right in the middle of it. Andre is one of the guys who sets the tone. Did a great job tonight.

Rockets were taking it at Steph from the start. How important is his toughness?

He's underrated for the toughness factor. You don't become 2-time MVP by shooting a bunch of threes. Unbelievable stamina, physical & mental toughness. For days, everyone has been talking about him. What he did tonight surprised none of us. His talent rises when it needs to.

PnR strategy early?

We didn't change anything to start the game. They hurt us a couple of times. We took a timeout to get clarify our defensive strategy. We didn't really make changes. We're playing the same, they're playing the same, we played better tonight.

Defend & get out in transition.

That's always a key for us. Houston is a good defensive team. They made it tough on us but if we can get stops, we can get out in transition & get better shots.

Key to Steph's improvement defensively this game?

We were so much better as a team defensively. It may have shown up that Steph played better but it was everyone. When everyone plays well, individuals will look better too. Steph has been battling this series but is standing up really well.

What did you see from Draymond tonight?

No one like him, honestly. His ability to impact the game so many ways defensively, out on Harden/Paul, switching, on Capela, protect the rim without fouling, he's a tremendous defender. His performance tonight was unreal.

Warriors eclipsed the Bulls record, 16 consecutive wins.

We're in the middle of a hell of a run with great players committed & take pride in protecting their home floor. Proud of them. Make no mistake, game four will be incredibly difficult. We're not paying attention to that stuff. We gotta be ready for the force coming from them game four.

Game 4, you don't want to go back there even. How big is it?

Huge game. Swing game of the series. Right where we want to be. Not naive to believe what happened tonight will happen in a couple of days.

Steph in Oracle.

Most teams play better at home. The way we play & what we rely on, he feeds off the energy. You saw that tonight. Once the dam broke, fans are so happy when Steph scores. Synergy between the fans & Steph, fun to be a part of & experience.

Jordan Bell early minutes.

Wasn't sure how I would play the backup 5 role. We went in saying we'll see how the game goes. Wanted to stay with more mobile defender on the perimeter so went with Jordan.

Livingston's role?

He was great. Aggressive. We need his offense. Small game when you play Houston. He's not 3pt shooter but driver & mid range shooter. Play at both ends was important.

Steph's ability to get to the rim.

He's consistently gotten to the rim through this series & scored. That's why I thought nothing was physically wrong. He did it again tonight. He got the 3pt shot going too.

 

Yeah, if Rockets want to shut those guys up they need to, you know, actually win the big games. If the Rockets go down in 5 or 6, Skip and Colin just shrug and say, "Told you so." The team doesn't get respect because they have to earn it by kicking the crap out of opponents, not letting the other teams make statements on them.

 

Nice backhanded compliment to the Rockets....
