ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Warriors 4/28/2019 (Playoffs Round 2, Game 1)

We win Game 1 because they will be daydreaming. 2:30 pm start for the Warriors which means they are playing at 12:30 PST. They rarely play that early. They are going to feel tired because it is nap time for some of them. Of all the 4 playoff games in the 4 series, Warriors is lowest favorite (point +) for Game 1. They will get Rocked!!!

 

That Klay ankle roll was really rough

 

Thompson and/or Curry not playing would be huge for us. And yeah, i don't give a single **** about beating them with some players out, they beat us just because of that (and the refs) a year ago, couldn't care less if they have a player out for a game.

I'd rather win with everyone full strength... but will accept injury wins.

I doubt Klay or Curry is really that hampered anyways.

 

To be fair I saw him roll that foot and figured it would be real swollen today.

 

I saw him land sideways on that foot. It looked pretty bad.

 

True. Its all part of the game. You have to have a good enough bench to step it up. We fell short last year, but injuries aren't excuses.

 

Curry was running fine on his foot but shooting bad. He's a faker.

 

I honestly missed it when it happened. I saw Curry’s and I don’t know why I didn’t see Thompson’s. Maybe I was distracted by something at home. Looking at the video, it’s hard to tell. I’ve seen guys roll their ankle like that and it has a definite impact on their play for a time, which varies, of course, and I’ve seen guys shrug it off and seem to play through it without missing time or having diminished play. Harden has rolled his ankle in a similar fashion before (I wish I could point out a particular instance) and seemed to be fine the next game. Guess we’ll see Sunday. The players and coaches will prepare like he’ll be 100%. Heck, like they’ll both be 100%. I would be stunned if they didn’t.

 

Injuries are like ***holes this time of year

 

Yeah it won’t matter even if Curry and Thompson are not hampered. Rockets are built to beat them and the entire fan base and the team have yearned for this moment since the end of game 7 last season.

Time is now. It won’t be easy but Rockets are better than the Worriers. Worriers at this point just have the pedigree. I expect the Rockets to split, but believe they can take both in Oracle.

 

Still remember that blowout loss with Durant not playing.

 

That wasn't a blowout though, we came back lat till -2/3 i think, and tbh i wasn't shocked to see the Warriors play better without him, they lose talent without Durant but they move the ball much better, Curry and Thompson are more scary if they're free to run around, espeically around moving screens.

 

fwiw: that quarter has no heads, only tails.

 

He posted some giant Robots fighting last year.

 

I would bet anything they play. 100% probably not, but they’ll play.

I was hearing this same thing on NBA radio today: "The way KD is playing..."

KD isn't the kind of guy who locks in for an entire series. He can get really hot for a game, and pretty hot for 2 or 3 in a row. But he always checks out at some point, usually when the defense gets under his skin.

Part of the reason KD looked so amazing that last game is because the Clippers stopped defending so well. When Bev was all up in his grill in the first couple of games, KD looked pretty damn ordinary. Doc went away from that in Game 6 and Durant went off. By the time Doc put Bev on him again it was too late.

"The way KD is playing..." makes me laugh. KD is a great player, no doubt, but when defended properly, he gets frustrated and starts taking bad shots just to prove that the defender isn't really having an effect on him. He still get his 25-35 points, but the Warriors offense grinds to a halt while he's doing it.
