I agree it's delusional to think so now, but people forget that when this was said, gsw had only beaten us once before that year, and the previous 6 seasons we had very favorable records against them. You could argue that it should have been recognized that the team changed when Kerr began coaching, but hindsight is always 20/20.

steph is going to come out guns blazing tomorrow. the warriors hit like, their first 14 shots. they score 46 points in the first. complete madness, they seemingly will not miss.

rockets battle back, and coming out after halftime dwert is doing everything out there, cleaning the glass with authority. when he slams down a delicious dwert-circa-'07 monster jam to bring the rockets within 8 in the third, there is hope on the horizon.

however, bill kennedy T's him up (for yelling during the dunk? for lightly tapping the backboard? we will never know for sure) and because he already got a tech in the first half for a menacing ezeli elbow-nudge, he is immediately ejected. rockets never recover, golden state 125, houston 109.

kennedy claims after the game he forgot howard already had a tech. that's obviously no consolation to the rockets, who continue to be a mediocre, inconsistent mess, finishing the season with some mediocre record and then get soundly thumped in the first round.
