Good defense is consistently forcing a player into taking bad shots.

How many points they score is irrelevant, as a player can still score points against good defense and not score points against bad defense.

Stop dumbing down good conversation by using simpleton logic.

Lin was forcing Westbrook into contested jumpers, only points he scored on him were transition buckets.

As crappy as he played on the offensive end he was definitely one of our better defenders on this night, can't believe even his biggest haters can't acknowledge that lol.

And you might be seeing what you want to see. I've been sh**ing on Lin for the past two days, but I can't fault his defense in Game 1, which was solid. He was denying Westbrook's penetration, forcing him to pass up the rock of take tough contested shots, and he even got a few steals. WB still went off for 20, but most of those points were on Beverley.

 

Not sure why people are saying Lin's defense was bad. It wasn't GREAT, but it certainly was acceptable, maybe even solid. You're not going to stop Westbrook from getting his, but Lin overall did a decent defensive job.

It was his offense that was the problem.

 

Could be worse...

No low post scoring. How can we beat the Thunder when we had almost ZERO points from our 2 bigs Asik and Smith. Whenever they did catch the ball in the post, OKC knew to foul them because they are terrible 50% FT shooters. Morey needs to do something to fix this in the offseason.

If it was Lin's defense was terrible because of his rotations, what was your opinion of Harden's defense in that game?

 

Yeah, and I'm afraid he's giong to finish 2nd (at best) again this year because no one is beating LeBron and the Heat 4 times in 7 games. Not this year. They're better than they were last year and LeBron is at the absolute height of his powers. Fortunately KD, Russ, and Serge are 24, 24, and 23 years old, so I think they'll eventually get theirs. It's just not going to be this year, and probably not next year either.
