This loss was expected. NO Way Harden was gonna get drunk with the chunky ladies from San Antonio. I dont think they even have strip clubs.
Thibs is quick fix, sure he'll work well for 2 years but then he'll either turn off your players or wear them out (he did both to Luol Deng) so after two years of "improved play" Dwight goes down to career ending injury and Harden leaves Houston for another franchise. This is a trait shared by strict coaches like him and Pat Riley, since they are strict they favor spartan training exercises which drastically shorten playing careers. If you don't believe me then just look at guys like Dwade, Luol Deng and Joakim Noah, those guys are worn out and shells of their former selves after extended periods of time under Riles and Thibs. This is why Popovich is so unique, he is extremely strict when it comes to rotations but at the same time he is very protective of players, he could have played Duncan at Center but chose to make him a PF instead so he wouldn't be beat up by the bigger Cs in the league.
I wish we would get Thibs and the second this team lost with him it would be nothing but we need Luke Walton, so on and so on.
did you post this b4 the game? they'd just lost by 30 the night b4,,, we beat them a month ago,,, we'd won 9 of the previous 12,,, and you had reason to expect not only a loss, but a blowout? way to be a cf, man.
not sure either. if anyone has followed the Rockets closely all year they just aren't that good of a team. All these little spurts of winning recently still weren't impressive. This initial JS smith high after the acquisition was nothing special. They just aren't on that top tier level. Until they show some significant change in the team especially defensively but its pretty pathetic, it will be the same results we've seen throughout the season up til this point. And thats up and down with no consistency
The Rockets should copy the Spurs. Here is there game plan in a nutshell. 1) Take what the defense gives you. 2) Don't give them anything. 3) Start off the game spread out spacing the floor. Look for open 3's and shoot the ball to tighten up the defense, because hey, that's normally what the defense is giving up in the beginning. 4) Wait for the adjustment (usually after a time out after we knock down 3s on them) and start driving in looking for your mid range shot. Teams will be overplaying the three point line, falling for pump fakes, making it easy to get closer and knock down the mid range jumper. If there is nothing there, find the closest open man. Off-ball players create the passing lanes on the drive. Off-ball players should let their man know they're open and have their hands up/out ready for the kick out. Go get the ball from him if he is stuck. 5) Expect the defense to play tight on the drive and look for layups/dunks and get to the FT line. If you get all the way inside and the defense collapses, kick it out to the open shooter. 6) Post up and kick it out if they double. 7) Post up and score. That's the Spurs recipe in a nutshell. They play the mentality of the opponent as if it's a clock that resets every 24 hours always taking what the defense gives them, while taking away everything the other team is good at in the beginning. They don't care if Dwight beats them from the FT line over a dunk/layup, or if Ariza is forced to take a contested layup caused by closing out on him hard. The goal is always to never give up anything.
If you believe Ty Lawson is bad and that Harden is without fault in his play. Stop talking about basketball. Anyone with any knowledge of basketball and Ty Lawson can see what Harden has done to him. He has made him not even a shell of his previous self. He has made him into a bad spot up shooter. When Harden is out, he attacks, gets the offense moving. When harden and him are in, Harden is ruling the team. Harden needs to drop the ego and I have lost hope for that. Hope is lost for this season unless something changes. It all starts with Harden and our coach.
What would the narrative on here be if the Rockets won 3 straight games without Harden and then proceed to get blown out by 30 on his return?
This is so disheartening guys... It's starting to feel more and more like this year is a wash. We can't beat the elite teams.
