Not only that, but it would actually be a promotion.

To bring up Ginobli again, the first season where Ginobli's role was officially the 6th man was also the very season Ginobli played the best basketball of his career (and also played the most minutes).

In fact, Ginobli had his first all-nba honors as a 6th man.

It's way too early to say Lin won't be finishing any games without Beverley. That's pure speculation at this point.

Not every 6th man is Manu Ginobli. He is very, very much the exception and not the rule. Almost every team has a de-facto "6th man,", but few actually surpass 32 minutes a game and even fewer are on the floor at the end of games. If Lin is benched, it's going to be a demotion.

start linbev of the bench, now promote ab to starter, solve the war between lof and bof...

or bring linbev as starter, demote harden AB off the bench lol

Manu was basically guaranteed to finish games. He was definitely their best swing man. He is a great passer but he is still a scorer first. It is unheard of to put your best pass-first PG on the bench.

Dwight won't ever be TD who could carry an entire offense.

Well, I guess it's experimenting time.

Watched the first half. I noticed in the first half beverly mostly dribbled the ball up, passed it off and went to the corner 3 OR fed the post. He looked like the role of Lin the last season... which is what the pg role should be for the starting line up, given such dominant scorers in Howard, Harden, and even Parsons. TJones also did not generate much offense, not out of lack of skill - it's because he didn't need to. The starting line up needs off the ball play, passing, and defense in the PFs and the PGs.

They tried to give Howard a lot of post touches to see how he would fare against hibbert. I counted 6-7 post feeds, 3-5 harden touches, a couple of kickouts, 2 beverly drives and 2 parson's drives.

This just confirms the thought that Lin would be better suited for 6th man, since any PG's role in such a offensively talented line up would be limited.

I'm not sold on Howard's bank shot. If his free throw form is any indication, it may be a pretty low percentage shot. It looks like it hits the backboard with way too much force to have a pretty bounce in.

Not really. The offense is designed.
