Jackie Robinson dealt with racism. Jeremy Lin dealt with stereotypes. Obviously, the severity is on a different scale. I think that is the difference between the two.

I have been reading this site for a very long time. So looking forward to logging on this afternoon and seeing all the opinions of a great game...Dwight and Harden playing amazing and how everything seemed to mesh last night. I just loved this game. BUT since I had only a moment. I went to last page in thread, to find Lin fans bashing Rocket fans. I like Jeremy a lot, but now I almost cringe when he plays well, or is benched since all the thoughtful threads are high-jacked either way by LOH and LFH (LIN Fan haters). I have been a rocket fan since 1975 and I am just sick of all this. The Yao fans were much nicer, You guys need to find your own site. CLutch has built this amazing Rocket community for us all, and name calling, player bashing, Member bashing is on the verge of destroying it. Just ridiculous. We Are Rocket fans first and last. Just really sick of all this. AS you can tell I never post...just could not help myself this time. When you take away a enjoyable destination for me, I have to say my peace.

i think it was during the clipper game before the game started the clipper announcers were talking about a comment mchale made when questioned about playing asik along with dwight in the line. They said mchale's comments were something along the lines of "starting your best 5 players" hmm was that a jab at Lin?

    My thoughts:
1 great bounce back win hooray for the team
2 nice to see bev getting back into game shape quickly
3 Dwight looks to be getting more comfortable, also happy that his ft is improving
4 only worry at the moment is inconsistency from cp25 hope he comes around
5 let's own the lakers next! Go Rockets!!!

Good win by the rockets yesterday. I wouldn't say the team played well, i think the ref's helped us out + portland was not playing considerably well (shots not going in, defense was lacking from time to time etc..). Would have expected a blow out win, but still it was a win.

Rockets NEED to improve and gel better (hopefully with time). It was a good win, but I was not impressed at all. Actually I haven't seen a game yet where the team played good 4 quarters. You can't do that against the good teams.

Really? A black guy is president, did you notice? Yeah, it's different from the 1940's now.

It's actually offensive that you claim Lin is in Jackie Robinson's position. Go on, why not just call Lin a Jew in Hitler's Germany. You're just ignorant of history.

That's who the Blazers are though. It's been their story for the last few years..lot of talent but they stall out at times, especially when their bench comes in. I would say the refs did help us slightly, maybe to make up for the egregious advantage the Clippers got the night before.

Disagreed. They can play beautifully together with better strategies. The best thing IMO would be to have Lin get everyone involved and save it for Harden to seal the deal. Now that Lin has improved his 3pt shooting, defense and hopefully TOs, he's ready to step up more.

Well said. If one sees the situation in a microscopic way, sure, things are vastly different. However, if one sees this in the perspective of these guys being the symbols of a people suffering and striving for equality and dignity, it's quite valid IMO. Sure, back then people suffered from large-scale and pervasive oppression and now it's basically (merely) media and cultural. It is still a big part of one's existence. Anyone who gets angry seems to me to be only looking from one's own perspective rather than from that of the afflicted.
