Every year this dude says he's going to expand the rotation to keep guys fresh and every year he plays the starters 40 minutes a night.
I think he is a good coach, but sucks at player development (because he won't even trust them in december, so they will never be ready in april) and on managing roatations. It's like a cycle - he gets desperate we are going to lose and since he only trusts veterans he runs everyone to the ground. The good thing is with ego and austin back, this should be mitigated a bit.
During the anthem Ariza pointed to the "sky" when we all screamed during "ROCKETS red glare" part of the anthem. Coincidence or not... Dude wants back on the Rox train, I'm sure of it. Makes it even worse that Kings won since the tank is delayed
Even the King social media guy is dunking on the Rockets over their protest. LOL It's all good, celebrate your victory chumps.
So he's a good coach, but sucks at player development and managing rotations? Isn't that like...60% of what a coach does? And you combine that with his obvious game-planning shortcomings, what exactly makes him a good coach?
remove another half of the % since he doesn't coach half the game, we're down to 30%. no wonder Tilman doesn't want to pay him, i wouldn't either.
Even with all those shortcomings he keeps winning on the regular season. I really beliieve if he commited to defense and accountability, his teams would turn the corner. But he does not care as Morey did not care about point guards or coaches, they believe it's not that important.
It was a very good play design, but the Rockets defense may not have been compromised if Westbrook was guarding someone at the beginning of the play. Hield just happened to run off Barnes’ screen to his area.
I think he is good at creating successful systems (Suns and Rockets) and is good at managing ego's even if he does this by avoiding to confront star players. He also seems to have a knack to unlock the full potential of guards within his system (see Nash and Harden). But I do agree that he has glaring shortcomings. So let me rephrase my thought: I think he is an above average coach, with some really bad tendencies and habits.
It’s pretty bad that when we inbounded with 8 seconds left I would rather jack up a shot as time absolutely expires or just dribble to OT instead of leaving any time left. We all knew that was gonna happen. Sucks.
that was something cp3 was good at.. he would rarely hit the shot at the end of the quarter but he always, perhaps to a fault, made sure there wasnt no time left on the clock whatsoever
