ClutchFans Game Thread: Jazz @ Rockets 4/14/2019 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 1)

Rockets won 4-1 though.

 

This is the first round matchup I wanted. Now, let's see if I was right. I did not want OKC in the first round, and I wanted GS in the second before we are worn down from two playoff series with possible injuries. May work, may not, but I think it is our best shot.

 

Rockets will win 4 games before the Jazz. This will allow for an advancement for the Rockets.

Definitely better to play gsw in 2nd round. Get that shite over with. Beat warriors and we are in the NBA finals again!

 

will we get the real timeout-calling MDA or playoffs-slacker MDA?

 

i wanted LAC or SAS. UTA has weak points gobert & rubio for harden to attack, but if CP3's midrange is not on this could end up being a long series. they are well coached (much better than OKC), can make shots, and mitchell is going to be a handful to contain

 

I might be in the minority here thinking that it would be a bit tougher this year, so i'd say Rockets in 6.
With that said , please don't underestimate them and don't choke leads

Personally I'm tired of playing the Jazz in the playoffs.

So I hope we sweep them and rest up for the 2nd Rd.

 

I believe you are correct. We have to have our best players from the starters and the bench on the court for extensive minutes. We don't have much room for error.

I wouldn't be shocked if it went 6, but it better not go 7. That would be a serious indictment on the Rockets. They're not quite as dominant this season with their Big Three(CP3, Harden, Capela) in the lineup, but they're damn close. Especially after the All-Star Break.

 

The last title the Rockets won began with the Jazz. Let’s get this title run started.

Series was much closer than it seems.

 

Eh, not really. Honestly, I think the 4-1 T'Wolves series was closer. The Rockets destroyed a tired Utah team in the first game. They played zero defense in the first half of Game 2 and dug themselves a deep hole they couldn't get out of(Scott Foster did officiate that night, but this one wasn't on him). They demolished the Jazz in Utah in Games 3 and 4. And Game 5 had the Rockets in control until Mitchell went off in the 3rd, but then CP3 went off in the 4th(and Mitchell ran out of gas and got hurt).

Now the Jazz will have Rubio this time around(although he is nursing a quad injury), but they won't have Burks who torched the Rockets in Games 2 and 5(the most competitive games of that series). I just don't see this being much tougher than it was last season.

 

If Harden goes cold the Rockets ain’t winning. This isn’t the same team as last year that could withstand poor performances from Harden.

 

Classic comment. I would love to have Maxwell for these playoffs or any one of them.

 

The sequence necessary for the Rockets to be the 4 seed right now was probably as likely to happen as them missing 27 straight 3s.

At least CP3 gets to face the Dubs one round earlier.
