Dwight surprised me with his speed. There was one point when Jones went in for a drive and Howard was on him quick. I have never seen Howard move that fast.

Casspi played really well in the friendly matches before EuroBasket, but he played terrible when it actually counted. That said I'm not super worried about it because Israel treats him like a star and expects him to create his own shot, which he can't really do. I'd hope he can return to his Sacramento form and hit high 30s at least. If not...well he'll probably get waived. Maybe this year, maybe next year depending on whether Morey wants the roster spot for something else.

If Lin wants to ensure himself the starting job & a lot of playing time what he has to do is make one of the PFs a better player & get them good stats, 12-14 ppg. The smart choice I think is D-Mo to make a concerted effort to include in the offense because he understands teamwork. The coaches will keep him on the floor if he does that for that reason alone because it is worth more than Lin scoring himself. Intelligence is part of being a good player, which you would think that Lin has having graduated Harvard. Last season, the only player who seemed to be smart enough to know that D-Mo could be a weapon offensively was Royce White.

I've got a feeling Brooks will surprise everyone (again) this year. He's poised to nab some guard minutes. Anyone saying that was so long ago, he isn't the same anymore... blah blah.... Well that was only THREE years ago! He's 28, still quick, still got that deadly stroke, his head's on straight, and he's on a mission of redemption, IMHO. I think Morey will ultimately make a choice between keeping him or Williams (for 3pt specialist). Need points?...-AB.... defense? -Bev's got that. The rotating arsenal of Lin/Bev/Brooks is gonna be fun to watch. The insecure Lin fan vs. Beverley pee-pee measuring contest here, not so much!

^^ when being over-opinionated goes bad.

If the backup 4 & 5 is Jones & Asik, that is great rim protection, so I think they can get away with playing Brooks as the backup 2. Just have him force his opponent to drive to the basket. That could even be less problematic than having him defend 1s & he plays like a 2 guard on offense.

I hate to agree with you but its true. This is the same 3 ball fools gold moreyatti philosophy.I was just to scared to say it because I don't want it to be true. We are using Howard like the lakers and Asik was used. No post game patience. Hurry up and buy!

It seems strange that Parsons was so passive in the offensive end in that game.

He should be the hungriest for ball as he would be due a big contract soon.

I agree that this coaching staff relies far too heavily on the 3, and I don't think very highly of mchale or sampson.....BUT

    1. this team almost made it out of the first round last season with a banged up lin and w/out a dwight howard against a 60 win team.

    2. the 3 is an enormous weapon now, more than ever, as evidenced by last season's finals where danny green, gary neal, mike miller and of course ray ray played huge roles in deciding games.

The main problem with this coaching staff is that they have a very rigid game plan, consisting of dumping it in down low to the C, and having 4 spot up shooters around the arc, or having harden dribble out the clock and chucking it at the last moment.

The coaching staff's claim that the rockets have an unpredictable offense is total hogwash. This claim is completely delusional. But the main problem of this coaching staff is that they don't seem willing or able to create an offense which caters to player's strengths. Dmo is NOT a 3 pt shooter. Casspi is NOT a good 3 point shooter. Lin is NOT a spot up 3 pt shooter. See a trend here?

The rockets have an incredibly talented roster. This is easily one of the top 4 or 5 rosters in the nba. If you factor in the youth of the team, this may very well be the most promising over a 5 year span.

But I have very little confidence in the coach's ability to exploit this talent fully.

one player nobody needs to be concerned about imo is Parsons.

    in this video yesterday:

his shooting form & fundamentals is impressive.

it is noticably improving / slightly altered, a testament to his shooting coach he worked out with over the summer.

Parsons game is not one where he demands the ball and makes a play. He makes plays by spotting up, cutting hard, and running the lane. He cannot do much with the ball in his hands and he is stationary. Don't worry. Once Harden, Howard, and Lin start collapsing the defense, you will see the true worth of Parsons as he fills the lanes and spreads the role very very well.

Your comments are dangerously close to being hateful there. We don't know how often they will use the post-up game, and Harden's isos were the result of growing pains which I expect Harden and the rest of the team will fully learn from. Don't be so negative of Harden. It seems that a couple of the new posters are coming dangerously close to outright hating on Harden and that is not cool. Please stop being so negative.

I'm posting your comment from another thread as reference:

"You heard the podcast, the majority of Clutchfans posters, and thereby probably the majority of people around the world, think Lin is a big liability on defense and is not a good fit here like Bev is. It is what it is. Move on, it'll be better for your health."

I've enjoyed the ongoing commentary in this forum, but your delusional sense of self importance is truly embarrassing. :) You think you speak for "the majority of people around the world!" lmfao!

Seriously, you're the one hatin'. :) And it's beyond "dangerously close" you're just a flat out hater. :)

    this

alot of people here say they love the current version of the Rockets - talentwise, offensive pace, and national media attention at the same time hate Harden

Harden with a little recruiting help from Parsons is the only reason the Rockets are where they are right now

The ONLY reason? How about asik? How about Lin? Parsons' play didn't matter? Who's the hater now? Unbelievable.

Lol. Number one I'm a Lin fan. A pretty big one at that. Number two, I'm not saying Clutchfans is the definitive place for polling peoples opinions, or that people here speak for the world? Where are you getting this? What I'm saying is that being a basketball nut, and visiting every forum and watching every clip, and listening to the recent Clutch podcast, it's fairly reasonable to think that most people don't think much of Lin's defense. And that's not even my opinion, lol. I think Lin is a clear plus defender and has the potential to be a great defender. I think he was the second best defender on the team behind Omer last year. Buddy, I've fought those wars you're fighting now, and I'm telling you that you may be coming off harsher than you may realize. And I say this as a big Lin fan who thinks Linsanity was no fluke at all and hate the negativity toward Lin. Calm down.

Try to think before you consider speaking for the majority of the world's population. It undermines your credibility just a little bit. :) Let's move on, shall we?
