I'm not a CPA, but I do work as a Tax Analyst for a major corporation and do taxes for a living. Pugs
Define how much an "arm and a leg" is... I work for Gainer Donnelly and Desroches (www.gddcpa.com) as a senior associate in the tax department.
I'm very specialized so my bill rate is $500 an hour but for something that won't require me to go too much out of my way I can go down to a rate that benefits you more than me.
Haha, it really depends on what the OP has....how much information, how many forms, and most importantly, what kind. Well....I try Dang, we just hired someone about 2 weeks ago, I'm training them now. If they don't work out I'll send you an email. Asian, shoot me an email and let me know what you have if you're still interested. Pugs
Mine is $120. Heck, the partners are only $200. I'd only charge an arm. We aren't very wheelchair friendly.
For even a simple, small firm that seems kind of low. What kind of work do you do and how many billable hours do you accumulate in a year?
We are a 20 person firm. We are required to work a minimum of 1600 billable hours (2200 total hours). I'm a staff accountant specializing in tax. My 2 prior firms I had billable rates of $75 and $76 as a staff accountant. Edit: The partner rate may be incorrect. I think it is higher. $200 is what they bill for what they call directors (partners from the firm I worked at that got bought out last year).
My dad is very reasonable with his rates and he's located in SW Houston if you're on that side of town. http://www.alexanderpmathewscpa.com/ Give him a call and he can give you his pricing. I can't tell you exactly but I know he doesn't try to rip people's heads off.
