I haven't heard of that either but then I googled and found this website: http://www.lankwaifonghotel.com.hk/ Seems that it's a luxurious hotel at Mide-levels. You rock, tinman!
man I hope its a good hotel. I heard the area is a cool area. I'm going on a side trip to Macau. Can anyone tell me if they play craps in the casinos there? I heard its all baccarat.
Thank you man. I just wanted to make sure that Tinman wouldn't be pranked by someone who recommended him a hotel that doesn't exist. You know how much we care about tinman here, right?
Man, I think you guys would send me to this place. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FC1ss05HuHg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FC1ss05HuHg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Tinman welcome to Hong Kong! Don't worry the hotel is good and it's located in a cool area, just not close to the MTR (HK's metro/ tube) station but you won't be disappointed! a useful map for you: http://www.centamap.com/gc/home.aspx
So you decided to stay at Madarin Oriental in Macao? I stayed there once many years ago, a very nice hotel. Frankly, this is the first time I heard of Lan Kwai Fong Hotel, checking their website, it seems promising. Their location sounds great as well. What's "craps" anyway? You mean the game where a guy/lady (often the guests) who throws the dice and others bet for the "points"? I did see one or two table in one of the new casinos in Macao, it's really uncommon though. Apart from Bacarat, Black Jacks and "Big Small" (??) are very common in Macao's casinos. And for the food in Macao, you have to try the Macanese/Portuguese food there, I've been to the following restaurants, pretty good one IMO: Fernando's O Porto Interior Other Clutchfans from Macao please feel free to advise here. If you are not too tired, I suggest we meet together in the evening of Oct 8 (Mon).
I'm at the Mandarin Oriental on Thursday. Man, craps is the BEST GAME! <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sb6zohMxTH4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sb6zohMxTH4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JXMmMuxli-E"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JXMmMuxli-E" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Talking about foods, there are way tooooo many good foods in HK. It's fair to say that in general, HK's Chinese restaurants are the best in the world. There are numerous restaurants there, clean, cozy, and actually relatively cheap. The foods are authentic. I think HK's Chinese restaurants are much better than those in Shanghai, BeiJing, San Fransisco, NYC, etc. Get ready to add 15 pounds when you come back.
LKF hotel is on wyndham street which is in the lan kwai fong bar area (surprise..) check out azure, finds and balalaika in the LKF tower attached to the hotel.. also tons of pubs around that area - on daguilar street (lux, volar, fong, etc..) and wyndham as well (dragon-i, prive, solas, tivo, etc..)
I can't believe there's so many Clutch fans who live in Hong Kong. Maybe we should join together sometime. Anyway, Hong Kong's food Rule!
Tinman I got several places to recommend you ask around for snake, you can find it around. Its reputed to be nutritious and good for you. I have it at my local shop in North Point but I don't know the area you live in well. At least not for food. Try and avoid the little carts everywhere, they might not be clean. Go to Mong Kwok to check out basketball shoes, jerseys and stuff are harder to find though. If you want to play some basketball yourself, there are courts at wan chai, Victoria Park, Mong Kwok itself, and some other places. Usually I hang at Wan Chai
