it really would be nice if we can get Carmelo to sign a deal with the Rockets. he really does look good in a Rockets uniform and it would be great to have him play along side Yao Ming, Scola, Miller and the rest of the team. hope Morey can do something soon and sign him.
we actually are like tom cruise. used to be popular, now no one cares about us. good article and photoshop, clutch.
This is the best point I've heard/read on this website. Denver doesn't have to trade him now. They can wait until the deadline. At that time, if the Rockets are doing very well with a healthy Yao and without Carmelo while the Knicks/Nets are stinkin' it up, you have to imagine the Rockets bubble to the top. Unless he's an idiot... and that's possible given some of his past behavior.
It is what a lot of people have been saying...be patient. The only negative could be that Melo can sign an extension at any time and if the Nuggets also get out of the gate hot, or are riding high, he might just decide to take the money and stay in Denver for 3 more years..... DD
Rockets with Dream = Tom Cruise - Top Gun Rockets with Yao and Tmac = Tom Cruise - Eyes Wide Shut Rockets with questionable Yao = Tom Cruise - Valkyrie
Hopefully for us, they do not get off to a hot start and i dont think they will. The damage has been done as far as the fans are concerned and unless the Nuggets can pull of a deal like the lakers did to keep kobe happy, he will be gone.
Maybe, but I remember whent he Rockets and their fans were ready to trade Dream before that trip to Japan.....with Charlie Thomas. DD
Harris, Farmar*, Uzoh*~ Williams, Morrow* Outlaw*, Ross!, James Murphy, Favors, May Lopez, Petro*, Humphries, Zoubek*~ * Dec 15 trade restriction ! Aug 29 trade restriction ~ Non-guaranteed Looking at the contracts held by the Nets. It's most likely to be either Favors or Lopez (+ Murphy as filler). Wexler believed/speculated in a podcast with Friedman that the Rockets would've be open to trading Yao this season had they gotten Favors. If Favors is regarded as a franchise changing player it'll be hard to beat that. Other than Murphy, they could go 3 for 1. With either Harris, or Outlaw's 5yr deal starting at $7M, as filler contracts. E.g, Favors/Lopez + Harris/Outlaw + Humphries (expiring) No other filler contracts would really work as the amounts are too small.
Yeah, I wouldn't know what people have been saying. I don't read many opinions in the GARM for obvious reasons.
Great article, good stuff as always clutch. After taking a couple days to think about this, I'm still not sure where I stand exactly. Even though Bosh never stated Houston as a possible destination, it still felt like a punch to the gut; I'm not ready for another one. I don't want to gut this team to land Melo. What would it take to land him and will he become a better team guy if he was here? For as good a player as he is, will he give us more than say Martin, Chase and the picks or whatever the deal would be? I'm not so sure. Now if he did come here, would landing another star such as Paul, be more realistic? Would it make Houston a more attractive destination than it may be now? Maybe so. I'm stuck somewhere in the middle in all of this. Would I like the Rockets to land Melo? Maybe, but I like the possibilities of this team as it stands, so I'm not quite sold either way.
If the Nets offer Favors I think they simply get Melo. If the Nets are only willing to deal Lopez... This is maybe where the Rockets can sneak in and trump the Nets. Provided the Rockets are willing to absorb salary. A whole lot of salary. DEN $11,843,763 over the tax. Melo for→ Hill + Patterson + Budinger + Harris (non-guaranteed) + Jeffries (expiring filler) + NY 2011 pick (HOU 2011 pick & NY swap) + NY 2012 pick DEN saves $4,991,772 Ariza TE for→ Birdman (knee is done?, 4yrs left on contract) DEN saves $4,533,300 DEN cuts payroll by $9,525,072 or saves $19,050,144 incl. tax
