I know we have a thread about playing basketball in Houston, but I want one dedicated to the pick-up games we will be playing this Saturday, 2/22/03 at noon. It will cost $6, but they are brand new indoor courts. The $6 gives you access to other things there, so it's a pretty good deal. I go to UH, and I live on campus.. only a few yards away from the rec center.. I might be there.. on weekdays you can't park there until after 8 PM. just fyi. and you have to reserve a court and rent out a basketball
I was about to ask the same thing. I haven't played basketball in a while.. I might be a little rusty.. by the way, I don't know any of you.. so how will I find you?
Meaning you can't play with your own basketball? Or do you mean you have to reserve a court during the week, but not the weekend?
I haven't done well at any of these events, yet I still keep going out. It's just for fun and anyone can play. I'll be there with my Yao Ming silver jersey and a bag of scrimage jerseys. B
You have to use theirs I think. I don't know if you'd have to reserve a court at noon on a saturday, that's not a very busy time for the facility.. but I've been there a dozen times or more and every time I go all the courts are full and there's lots of people waiting.. so reserving a court wouldn't hurt..
The Summitt said there should be no problem having a court to ourselves noon on Saturday. I know he told me that we needed a student ID to get a basketball, but I didn't think he said anything about a rule of not bringing your own basketball. B
Is there any way The Summit or ewfd can check to see if we need to reserve a court or not? I live kind of far & would hate to make a dry run.
You shouldn't have to reserve a court since it won't be crowded, but you can never be too careful.. I wish I would have a few times.. I've never seen an outside basketball being used there.. I've got a student ID though, so I can check out a ball..
i went this past saturday around 1 and it was pretty packed. Had to wait about 2 games before i got to play a full-court game.
I work tonight, so I will check on reserving a court. I would recommend someone gets there before 12 if possible, because after that it starts getting a little crowded. But the weekends are nothing compared to weekdays, you have to wait for hours just to get in a game. I'll let you know what I find out.....
The rec center is on the Pizza hut side? What happen to Calhoun? Didn't that used to be open to I-45?
