I know Indy fans who would have taken that 3-5 year window if it meant watching Peyton (who is beloved on an Olajuwon level in Indy) set/break all these records AND give them a better chance of another SB championship. The key was that nobody expected Peyton to be able to still play like this... had they expected that, they probably hang on to him.

Nothing in football is guaranteed... especially not Luck's 15 year expected reign of dominance.

Thread sufficiently derailed... more to simply take the sting off.

So true. Colts get the #1 pick and they have 2 of the best QB prospects in history available. (Peyton and Luck).

Texans get the #1 pick and have no clear top QB prospect valued for that spot, but rather super athletic DEs with minimal skill and red flags.

Don't forget David Carr... the year they should have taken the athletic DE (who still plays, mind you).

I didn't even think of that...funny point. I guess they were trying to make-up pass passing on Peppers.

you gotta laugh to keep from crying.

    This.

When the first injury happened, and they didn't immediately send him to / recommend Andrews, I held my breath.

Lowe "cleaned up" the meniscus and cartilage.

Then Andrews was consulted, but he doesn't do the surgery. This tells me that he didn't want to go in after Lowe, i.e., high risk, low reward proposition.

You guys have way more faith than I do in them changing GM. I doubt Smith is going anywhere, or bears any responsibility for anything related to this.

Smith is a patsy/fall guy.... and situations like this warrant somebody to have to take the fall.

BOB is carrying him right now thanks to the team posting a winning record following a disaster season.

official? why do you say that? BoB definitely had a hand in the draft. He has mentioned that there wasn't a big drop off from the top 3 QBs and the rest. The GM isn't going to make picks without any input from the guy that is going to coach those picks.

So what's your favorite Clowney Texans career highlight? My vote goes to #1.

Watching those highlights do make me sad though. Oh what could have been with Clowney and JJ together.

    #1 he's unblocked
#2 he uses a speed rush past a backup LT
#3 he uses a speed rush past a backup TE

Out of all 3, I guess #2 has to be the most "impressive" because it was the closest thing to him facing what he would have faced in the regular season... but even that being said, if this is his career highlight reel at the end of his career, that's pretty bad.

this was my point. i wrote it as a question because radio guys wanted to off smith for the clowney debacle. smith has to go for me but it has more to do with giving something new to b.o.b. smith gets a promotion to clear up space for the new gm, 'assistant owner' :p
i feel there is a lot of talent than what people like to believe.

I get the premise but Sam Baker is a starting LT in this league. He has just gotten hurt twice.
