I think bringing him in will pay dividends by mid-season. I can see him coming in for high-energy minutes on the defensive end and he can run the floor great when we play small. He was at one point ranked Top-10 draft picks coming into this draft. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D29d4g1C80Y
Quote: CLINT CAPELA Clint Capela is an international prospect that might find his way onto your favorite team on draft night. The 19-year-old, 6-11, 211-pound power forward was born in Switzerland and is playing for Chalon, a Euroleague team from France this season. At this age, Capela is still a very raw prospect, but Draftexpress.com still has him going in the first round. Besides that, Andre Drummond was extremely raw coming out of UConn, right? Capela is a physical freak — his wingspan brings him close to 7-4. That’s scary. Anthony Davis is around 6-10 and has a wingspan close to 7-6. How’s that for an athletic comparison? Capela isn’t a powerhouse like DeMarcus Cousins or Blake Griffin, he’s more comparable to the new type of center we seen in the NBA like Nerlens Noel and Anthony Davis. In the Eurocup this season (ten games), Capela posted averages of 11.2 points and 6.5 boards along with one block per game. A lot of these international prospects play minimal minutes overseas, so they make the most of their minutes. Capela was only playing 19.8 minutes per game, but he shot a very impressive 71.8 percent from the field. With his freak athleticism and potential to be an elite rim protector, make yourself familiar with the name Clint Capela. http://dimemag.com/2014/01/15-biggest-unknowns-2014-nba-draft/
Don't get your hopes up or your likely to be disappointed. He is very likely going to spend most of the season as a Viper just like DMo, TJones, Canaan etc...
Quote: He moved well into the first round with good showings in France, then pushed into lottery contention by flashing mobility to go with the size and toughness inside. The Suns don't want multiple rookies on the roster and will almost certainly spend one of the picks on a player who will spend another season overseas. Capela would fit that as a prospect who has the chance to develop into a top-10 player.
He's not even close to being NBA-ready. He's very raw. He's long and athletic, but doesn't have the fundamentals yet to play proper defense and he can't shoot. He's getting by purely on his size and athleticism. He was a highly-rated pick purely because of his potential. He could be good one day once he gets a lot of coaching. But as of right now, he's not even close.
The Vipers will love him probably but he's really raw. I looked at his game and he is missing a lot of the fundamentals like boxing out a fair percentage of the time. He uses his great wingspan to try to make up for it. He does have some considerable upside but it's going to take time and patience with him. Might take a while.
Raw is such an overrated attribute. Look at Giannis. Not saying Clint could start, but he could certainly play some time in RGV and make his way into a backup role before the season is over. Shot blocking, athleticism, and running/finishing in transition alone will make him useful.
My point exactly. We just need a solid, high energy defender to bang when D12 is on the bench! 2 Rookies who have good potential
I'm all in on Capela. He is the player I wanted before the draft. Draft express had him as their 11 overall prospect. However he is at lest two years away from being NBA ready.
Dude should have gotten a scholarship and played a year in college. That would have benefited him a lot.
