For those looking for 2 hour of straight carnage and destruction and monsters fighting, please go watch a Michael Bay film instead. This movie is a slow build up with character development and then come the monster carnage. I'm just letting you guys know now before you start b****ing and moaning about not enough monster fighting and too much character arc. I predict Clutchfan will be disappointed since this is a Michael bay crowd, lol.
I kind of expected that since it seems to be Gareth Edwards style but I could see how some people will be complaining about that.
saw advance IMAX 3D screening last night I enjoyed it, highly recommend watching on the larger screens (IMax/RPX/xD) and skip the 3D. The only complaint, which is pretty spot on by VHB, people are going to complain that Godzilla didn't have much screen time. It did feel nostalgic to disaster movies I loved growing up during the 90's.
Already bought my 3D IMAX tickets for Saturday. Looking forward to a great character-driven disaster movie.
I introduced my 10-year old son to Godzilla in preparation for this movie. We watched the 1956 American version of it on Netflix. Same thing in that movie. Godzilla shows up much later.
Man oh man, I have to wait an extra week and try to avoid spoilers. I'll probably stay away from this thread until the end of the month.

This is precisely why I am going to see it... Couldn't sit through 20mins of any of the first two transformers movies, so I didn't bother with the third....
That's what I anticipated based on the strong cast and the director. Gareth Edwards' Monsters was similar. I have mixed feelings about the slow buildup/drama angle. I do enjoy good drama but Godzilla should have a lot of action. I'll still go and see it.
I am Mr. wait for DVD guy for movies, but when it comes to Monster movies i am all over them(loved the old godzillas as a kid). Will be making my first trek to the movies this weekend since Pacific Rim.
