What news? The only thing indicating him going back to Dallas was an article that was written when they thought they were getting DeAndre Jordan. Literally every piece of news regarding JET after that has been about his negotiations with the Rockets.
not really official but <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Rockets consider it unlikely Jason Terry will return, said a person with knowledge of the situation - Houston Chron.</p>— Rockets Social (@Rockets_Social) <a href="https://twitter.com/Rockets_Social/status/627858871353245696">August 2, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Hayesfan, I would appreciate if you could tell me if Chuck can still rebound at the NBA level. Defensive rebounding is one of our biggest weaknesses.
Knew Terry would not return, he's probably let his role when Bev get to his head and demand more money. He wasn't even that good though, cannot remember one good shooting game from him in the playoffs.
As said elsewhere about a million times. He's done. I guess it's a sentimental signing since he could barely get playing time elsewhere in the league.
That's ridiculous. The Rockets wouldn't waste a single penny of guaranteed cap space on Hakeem, let alone Chuck Hayes.
He was pretty good in a few games, mostly in the Mavs series. Also in Game 5 of the WCF when most of the team was stinking up the joint, he played well(offensively anyway). Clearly if the team is healthy, Terry ain't getting much playing time(if any). The problem of course is the Rockets are NEVER healthy, especially come April, and most especially at the PG spot. And the real reason you want Terry around aside from insurance at PG and the occasional clutch shooting performance is his veteran leadership. But much like Josh Smith, I understand if he decides to go elsewhere to get more playing time. If he's looking for a contender who'll offer him that however, he may not have many alternatives. He could return to Dallas and wind down his career there, but he can forget about another ring.
What, seriously? Daryl Morey? Sentimental?!?!? For anyone less than a superstar (Yao, TMac, Harden)? If Daryl didn't think Chuck had value, he wouldn't have wasted a cent on him. Nor the roster space.
I would have liked to see JET return, he would have been the Chuck Hayes of our guards, with opposite skill sets of course (defense vs offense). I'm not familiar with who else is available to fill his role of dependable veteran champion capable of coming in for spurts that can provide more for this team than warming the bench. It would have to be a vet min player, I assume. Ray Allen, perhaps? He's always kept in great shape, can't be any worse physically than JET.
