Difference is we made more than 1 miracle shot to come back. We made a TON of them in Game 6 and then we won Game 5 and 7 without any miracles.
It sucks. Rockets could have used Hayes not just against Griffen but the other top PFs in the West. Rockets going to get killed at the 4 spot as usual.....
I understand. Game 6 was a historic miracle. We won Game 7 the normal way. There was another tidbit about Game 7 too. The Clippers could have had the HCA for Game 7 if not for that stupid Division Champ thing. They had a better conference record and a better head to head record against us. The only reason we had HCA was because the best team was in their division, not ours. Don't get me wrong, the Clippers are on the top of my list of most hated teams. Beating them in such a historic fashion was one of the most satisfying moments for me as a sports fan. I just want to give people the perspective on comparing the two teams. Some posters here think we are hands down better than the Clippers. That's not true at all. We were extremely lucky in beating them.

You're arguing a tautology. Every team that wins lots of games and advances in the playoffs is extremely lucky and benefits from events that are low probability - it's part of the game, and largely why some teams win championships while equal or greater teams go home.
Yes, the Rockets were extremely lucky to be the most injured team to make the playoffs and in fact miss two starters at the positions of the Clippers best players. So lucky.
Head to head was even actually, 2-2. Clippers were also pretty lucky to play the Rockets missing 2 starters who had played the 3rd and 4th most minutes (behind Harden and Ariza) during the regular season.

Instead within a second those odds reversed, all because the Seahawks for whatever reason opted to pass. This is a pretty common reversal in close matchups in sports. Teams that accrue advantages over closely matched opponents do so with the benefit of random occurrences, aka luck. This is particularly common in playoffs/finals etc where talent/skill whatever is even so lucks role is accentuated. Saying the Rockets were "just lucky" to win a close playoff series with a comparable opponent is a throwaway observation. Of course they were. So was every team that won a close series and every team that won a championship ever.
You are talking about a different thing. Yes, every game, every season, consists of a bunch of high and low probability events. But it is the totality of the probability we are talking about. How can you say that "EVERY team that wins lots of games and advances in the playoffs is EXTREMELY LUCKY"?. That is simply not true. There is a probability at every point of the season for a team to make the playoffs. Unless you are claiming that EVERY TEAM at one point or another reaches an extremely low probability of making the playoffs, your statement is just false. The Philadelphia 76ers making the playoffs would be extremely lucky. The Cleveland Cavaliers making the playoffs would not be extremely lucky. A team winning 10 straight at the end of the season passing a team losing 10 straight and making the playoffs by one more win would be extremely lucky. A team leading the conference from the start of the season to the end would not be extremely lucky in making the playoffs.
I stand corrected. Head to head was even. And yes, injuries were part of the luck. The Rockets were quite lucky Chris Paul was injured toward the end of the Spurs series, but we didn't capitalize it.
