Can you guys honestly say you didn't enjoy the Yao-McGrady era? Finally back in the playoffs 2 superstars who averaged 20-25ppg That game in San Antonio 22 wins 1st place in the West Taking the Lakers to 7 games in the western semifinals (still part of the Tracy era....his last season here). It was a fun era. 2005-2010. Good times.
One more. Starting the season off 17-18 in 2004 and going 33-14 to finish the season after the additions of Barry and Wesley.
Since we already had Yao, and still do, then it was really just the "McGrady era". And yes I did enjoy it for a bit, but the last 2 years of Mac were just so ****ty that they weighed more than the good years. Not only did he wear out his welcome, but he also burned through all the good will that he had built up with the fans. Overall he was a net minus. Take Vernon Maxwell as a counter example. Mad Max eventually came unhinged and he quit on his team. However, he went ahead and did it quick with no soap opera drama. Everyone quickly forgot about the sour ending and they still remember Max fondly for all the good times. Tracy's drama wasn't only childish and stupid, but it affected the team as well as the fans. He's the worst crybaby ever.
Chuck needs to be traded to a contender. The Rockets will never use him the right way. If he is going to play "situational" minutes, he should be doing it on a contender like The Lakers or The Heat where it will actually make a difference. He should be starting for The Rockets because he is clearly their best defender and compliments a healthy Yao better than Scola. It's amazing that Scola can parlay non-existent defense and a few crafty moves around the rim into $10 million a year. Even now all indications are that if Yao goes down again or can't play many minutes that Brad friggin' Miller is going to play backup Center. Not surprising considering he has always been an Adelman groupie. That leaves last years co-captain racking up "DNPCD's..." Anyway, if Yao returns to previous form, they still don't have enough to beat The Lakers or The Heat. Chuck would be the X-Factor for either of those teams against one another. The Rockets would be better off under Adelman and his pansy offensive schemes with a guy like Matt Barnes anyway. Adelman has proven he just doesn't know how to coach defense and unless they are planning on hiring a defensive coordinator then it's a win-win situation.
Its great that Chuck is receiving some national attention. He works way too dang hard to get very little respect.
