I thought I was coming into a balanced discussion of mano on mano ... chuck v hayes. but instead I find a circle jerk of tiring talk. oh well. hey, don't blame me for posting. If I'm going to read a few pages looking for something worthwhile to respond to, and when I don't, then I damn sure have the right to call you all boring as freaking hell... and wrong, while you are at it. hope you get off!
The thing is, we have a huge need for Chuck Hayes. It's just NOT AT CENTER!! We 100% need Chuck Hayes at the backup PF spot for defense. Without him we have a major hole there. But why in God's name, would you be playing the same crappy lineup that we lost with all year last year, when we have new guys that are playing well and ready to go?
I don't understand why you guys are putting this on Hayes? The guy is awesome at his position. We all saw what he did against Duncan when Adelman finally put him against him the other night. And we've been watching this multiple times. But for some unfathomable reason, after promising during the preseason and training camp that he will not play Chuck at center this year, that seems to be what RA is doing to close out games. Is he trying to lower Chuck's value or something?
Chuck Hayes is Keith Bogans of the front court. Doesn't really have a place in this league getting more than 15 mins per game.
LMAO! Rookie? Dude first of all STOP TRYING TO BE A MOREY CLONE & with your "data" and actually I dunno WATCH A GAME! PSST! U know all those rebounds that the other team's BIGS constantly tip to themselves when chuck is on the floor at the end of games? A bigger & better athlete is better equipped to get those rebounds because Chuck sure can't. And the only people with a "Dennis Rodman" fantasy is you. You guys are trying to fashion Hayes into some kind of Rodman reincarnation when he's not even close. There's alot of guys under 6'6 who play with "heart" on weekends at YMCA's all over this great nation but it doesn't mean they should be in a NBA rotation. There's alot of things I'd LOVE to ask Knicks chick for, but her opinion on basketball isn't one of them. The funny thing is you're one of the same Morey "clones" that stick your chest out talking about the "assets" or the Knicks picks that Rockets have. But what good are lottery picks when Adelman just going to play a 6'3 center ahead of them all anyway? NOT ONE CONTENDING TEAM WOULD HAVE HAYES IN THE ROTATION! Please Smooth, name me one team that has a chance at a title that would play Chuck in its top 8? You can't because it doesn't exist. The team was lottery bound last year & 1-6 this year running this guy out there for extended minutes. How's that for data?
LOL - so you just came into the thread to make fun of fans having a discussion about basketball? Ain't you a peach ! DD
Hill will have to play harder and be tougher mentally if Adelman is going to give him playing time on a consistent basis. Last night the kid came in semi lackadaisical getting stripped of the ball several times when he entered the game and not fully contesting shots on defense. He's got all the god given tools, but needs to bring the fire to his game all the time. If he doesn't bring it, I don't see the rockets keeping him. Most people may not recognize the fact that this team severely misses a player like Carl Landry.
I love me some wagon, don't get me wrong. Also, in no way do I believe him to be our sole ailment of the team. However, like I have said before imho he should not absorb the lions share of minutes at center, especially when 7fters are making shots and grabbing balls over his head. Having said that, I am completely and utterly dumbfounded by ricks insane man-love for the chuck wag. How rick continues his myopic view for solutions at the 5 confuses the heck out of me when we have plenty of options to tinker with. Having relieved my breast of such wieght has given me considerable relief now. *steps off soapbox to applaudits of crowd*
You got your answer from Daryl(if you take him for his word). Rick wasnt enamored with Jordan early in the game therefor no Jordan until only 7.5 seconds were left in the game. Looks like they also want/need to see more from him on his D and rebounding. Someone is going to respond with "How can he show more when he's on the bench!?". Heh, I don't disagree there but....it is what it is. *shrugs*
Ok, so Jordan Hill played lackluster for 7 minutes he was in yesterday, so you put in a 6'5 center in his place that we have continued to lose games with?? Again, not that all the blame is on chuck but we aren't winning games with a 6'5 center. It's just not gonna happen, why don't you stay with your 6'10 guy even if he's not playing at full potential that maybe he plays better as the game progresses. The FEW games iv'e seen jordan hill play, he's block shots, he's grabbing rebounds, he's all over the place. So he has a bad first 7 minutes of a game and you sit him the rest of the game and basically forfeit by putting a 6'5 guy out there...
I said this before saying it again. Why did Chuck lose all that weight coming into the season when Adelman is still playing him at center? What's the point?
That's not the question. My point is at present Hayes is better than Hill. I'd rather have Yao at the 5 or acquire someone else. Maybe Miller can get in better shape. Possibly next year Jordan Hill will get in the weight room and find a heart. I doubt it though. He has a prima donna feel to him. He worked hard on a finesse move in the off season, but forgot to get stronger. My guess is that he really wants to be a 4 and doesn't like banging with the bigs. Also, Chuck Hayes keeps getting shorter with every post. Before long he's going to be a 5'8" hottie.
See March 30th, last season: http://popcornmachine.net/cgi-bin/gameflow.cgi?date=20100330&game=WASHOU Pay close attention to the last 5 minutes. Rockets: Brooks, Lowry, Budinger, Scola, Hayes Hayes guarded Blatche. Blatche went 1-5 in that stretch. Rockets come from behind to win. Post game report: http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/rockets_bench_brigade_lifts_t_2010_03_31.html Adelman on Chuck's defense in the 4th quarter of that game: [rquoter] (Chuck’s fourth quarter defense): He was great. He did a nice job. It’s tough when you go to a guy that much. That puts a lot of pressure on you. But he made (Blatche) take tough shots on the last two or three possessions. He made him take jumpers over the top without fouling him, didn’t let him get to the basket and that was crucial. I was trying to save him for the last 6 or 7 minutes because he had some fouls and fortunately he was able to stay in the game and did a nice job. [/rquoter] Try again.
Excellent retort. Bravo for restoring sanity once again to us peasants. Fans are just venting frustrations that have built up for the past 7 games. The wagon and Rick are just the latest scapegoats to air out the bad blood. I am sure they will not be the last. Winning is the elixer to all that ails the hardwood. Once some wins are strung together, we same fans will rejoice once again in our lowly goats.
Great point, with Chuck Hayes playing center, we went 42-40 and were a lottery team last year. I guess compared to 1-6 I'll take that....
Chuck Hayes isn't a superstar? See, this is why I read your posts. Insight you just can't get anywhere else.
Chuck's defense was not the problem. His height was. He's not rebounding and shot-blocking as much as a 6'10 Jordan Hill would have. Just 3-4 more rebounds last night would have won us the game. Hill's game progresses the longer he is out there. Maybe this is due to the fact that he is not getting the playing time he deserves. Everytime Hill plays 25+ minutes he ends up being one of the best players on the court.
