According to the Chronicle:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6021605.html

"The Rockets on Thursday matched the offer that the Charlotte Bobcats made to Carl Landry, the Chronicle's Richard Justice reports."

3 years - 9 mil - 3rd year team option

BTW, I noticed that therox3 posted this on CheezeyBoy22's thread before I did ... so, he gets the credit for the scoop from the Chronicle ...

;)

Morey played it perfectly. He was willing to wait all summer for Landry to get an offer. He raised injury concerns to scare off potential suitors. And when the offer came in at a paltry $3 million per year, it was an easy decision to match.
Well done, sir!

They did, however, eventually make an offer worth roughly $5.4 million over three seasons, which would indicate the threat of paying the luxury tax might not drive the decision. The Rockets began each of the past two seasons past the tax line, though midseason trades prevented them from having to pay a luxury tax.

So it's about $1.8M/yr over 3 years. Sounds like a good value to me.

That's what our initial offer was. He signed for 3M/yr for 3 years.

That's what he's worth and not a penny more. Well played Morey.

Really is a relief to know he's coming back. Will make watching those midseason games that much more interesting.

Well, we ended up paying 1.2 million dollars more than that, sorry to break it to you.

No, that was the initial offer the Rockets made. The final offer that the Bobcats made (and the Rockets just matched) is $9M over 3 years, so $3M/year. Still not a bad price if you ask me. He is going to be a huge asset off the bench, much like last year.

happy to have him back.. he's a ton of fun to watch and he's got a decent amount of upside as well... we'll worth the 2 year commitment on the rockets end...even if the knee goes i think we can still live with this contract

What's great about this is the contract. Slightly below Scola's, who is underpaid, IMO, and the Rocks on the hook for only 2 years, because of the 3rd year team option. We get Landry's Bird Rights before the contract ends, so if he blows up, we're covered, and if the knee blows up, we can bail after 2 seasons. Really, a perfect contract for Landry.

Kudos, Morey!
