Spurs have won 4 titles and they refuse to go into the tax.

I'd rather do it smart than just throw money away.

I understand where he is coming from, but he knows full well it has to do with injuries to Yao and Tmac...

Any team who loses their two best players is going to struggle.

But, he does have a point.....don't accept mediocrity.....Morey did everything he could do to ease his handcuffs.....but now they are off.

    No more excuses.

Portland is not using them...why should we?

Signing Manu and taking on Jefferson this year will put them in the Lux tax......maybe you should actually know what you are talking about before actually posting.

    He could have said no...

one first rounder and 2 second rounders and I forgot about The cash for David Andersen. Mediocrity=not doing anything. Spending Money for young players is smart.

    I'm done with you.

What Spurs have done is remarkable and very hard to be repeated. They had TD and Robinson, and somehow they found Parker and Manu when others still don't know how to evaluate international players.

Those days are long gone, now more and more teams knows how to evaluate special talent over-sea, and how to evaluate current NBA players, what happened after that? Spurs are having bigger trouble contending each and every year by using the same method.

And they are going into the Lux tax, and having difficulty signing their top overseas talent Splitter.

So SA is lucky enough to draft one of the best big men in NBA history and Dallas has an owner who will spend whatever it takes every year and are lucky enough to draft a HOF'er with the 8 pick and they are quantitatively better for that?

Yes, but that probably won't get it done and will cost them double because they are into the tax.

Great article on the Splitter situation

We did draft Yao with the number 1 pick and Steve Francis was the number 2 pick...so the Rockets have had their shots too.

Is Solomon really this stupid? Yeah probably, but it's obviously personal with him having beef with Morey. I guess I understand though, he's a horrible writer, so how else is he gonna get people to read his stuff? Funny seems as though 12 year old Nyle has a better understanding than the queen on what the Rockets are trying to accomplish.

Portland's eerily similar to the 2009 Rockets:

-Lose their 3rd best player (Oden-McGrady) to injury.

-Lose their best player in playoffs (Roy-Yao in round 2).

-Surprise people and win game 1 of the series.

Though I don't think you can say "Portland's not using excuses! They're in the playoffs!" Well, yeah, true, they are.. but they also had their two best players on their team for the entire year. That's how they got into the playoffs. The Rockets lost their best two players from last year's playoffs for the entire season. Do you think Portland would be in the 50-win playoffs this year playing without Aldridge and Roy? Even if Oden didn't get hurt, not likely.

Next year, there will be no excuses. This year was a re-tooling year, to get assets to make a major move to go for the championship. Yao's window is fading fast, we need to make the move now. This year, we collected assets to pull off one of these moves. Let's hope we do.

That's the key here. Cuban is likely to get it done even if it means double cost. Spur's owner probably won't. Les probably won't.

That doesn't make them bad owners, just not as good as Cuban. Cuban is annoying, but he's a great owner. Great owners don't always succeed, for example Dolan, but in general they give the team a better chance with more resource.

yes, thanks. Rafer Alston is the perfect example to show how cheap Les is.

No way I can believe that we could not find any PG better than Rafer from 2003 to 2009... .. If we did not get lucky and draft Brooks, Rockets are still in Rafer state in PG.

Now backup center, ......., will overpay Gortat at MLE kill this franchise?

Second time he's made that claim... that record is not one of the 10 worst seasons since the Rockets came to Houston 39 years ago. The only way he could even attempt to make that claim is if he took only non-playoff seasons, and even then it would be tied for 11th.

The Houston Chronicle really needs to be fact-checked more often.

It's not that we accept mediocrity, but being realistic, the team is mediocre. And even at that, they still managed an above .500 record in the stacked up west. If they were in the east, they would of made the playoffs, and who knows what can happen in the playoffs, ask the mavs fans when they played golden state. Would we like them to be in the playoffs ? of course, but were we going to be dissapointed if they failed ? no , why? because we realists knew how hard it was to get in , with no allstars, and playing out west. we still support our rockets, regardless of their outcome, and that is all that matters NWO4life , so stop hating on rockets fans

not doing anything = fans losing interest = losing profit = Les hate it.

Mediocrity= do something flashy but small = fans keep hoping = profit = Les love it.

Is he talking about how we expect mediocrity from our writers? We're definitely getting that.

WTF does he want us to do? Get stressed out over missing the playoffs when we weren't going to win a Championship this year anyway? I hate Solomon. So negative.

Also idiot, how many rings do the Mavs have?
