I'm wondering if they're holding him out because they've already got a trade agreed upon and they don't want to risk him hurting himself. I'm wondering if some team has already agreed to trade for him and offer him an extension and Morey is taking the deal?
Brandon Roy is not comparable to Yao Ming, not yet at least. And how are you trying to say that what I'm saying is illogical? Its simple. Why pay a player who isn't ever healthy over one who is healthy.....
I think people in portland would have been happy to have gotten 24 minutes for a few games out of greg oden. Rockets should be happy hes played at all.
I do still get a chuckle when haters label Yao the biggest bust in recent years when you have guys like Kwame and Oden running around.
Well, I would be too. But I've definitely gotten mixed signals from Yao and the team lately. I think he wants to start playing. It appears they are holding him out. Just doesn't feel right. If Yao says he is targeting a date and wants to be back, then they hold him out of practice, when we see him doing interviews in the gym all sweated down because he has just been in practice, and he is sounding like he wants to go, but it keeps getting delayed, what are we to make of it? And the time is not defined by the team. How many player injuries does that happen to, where the team keeps changing the date of the player's return and finally arrives at "indefinitely" after initially saying a certain amount of time? This thing has gotten all convoluted. If Yao was pulling this number on them like Tracy did last year, we could tell that it torqued Adelman off. But it sure appears like they are messing with him and Yao being the gentleman that he is just shrugs it off. Something doesn't feel right.
I hope they are going to trade him. This would free up Yao to sign with a real contender next year. If they are trying to protect him, then they are indicating Yao still is in their long term plans. That would make it extremely tough for Yao to just bounce to a new team next year.
I get the same vibe; this is about Adelman's concern with team chemistry. It appears that the team has turned a corner and he doesn't want to disrupt it. If the team were still losing, Yao would be miraculously healed! Or, some kind of deal is in the works. Or, Yao's injury is worse than reported. Or, I have no idea.
That will be the worse scenario for both yao and Rockets. It will kill any chance that Rockets could have a decent future.
So, what if we could turn Yao and Brooks along with Hill and our other expirings into Demarcus Cousins and Carmelo Anthony, would that kill any chance the Rockets could have a decent future?
I think that the Rockets want to wait till Yao is 100% and can play close to 30 minutes a game before letting him back on the court. There is nothing wrong with that. A limited Yao is not a positive for the team as shown earlier in the season. Having Yao in and out of the lineup would only hurt the team more. Honestly I think that Yao's days as an NBA star are over. He still can help a contending team as a part time/situational player because of his size and skills but he is no longer a center piece that you can build a team around. The Rockets as they are constructed now is a medicore team and will not contend (sorry if the truth hurts). We need to rebuild and we can starting doing that by trading Yao for some assets while he still has value as an expiring contract. It will be a huge mistake if the Rockets resign Yao to a long term contract next summer, especially if it's at a high price.
I knew it, I knew there was something more than just an ankle sprain, Ankle sprain my ass, there is something the organization isn't saying.
