With the idiotic and over-the-top comments you've made this season, you are the one who comes across as stupid. With all the injuries a 52-30 was very good. In the playoffs, the Jazz were just better than us. I felt this way even after we were up 2-0. Weaknesses get magnified in the playoffs and our pathetic PGs & PFs killed us. The Jazz are better, deeper, more versatile, more athletic and deserved to win. Though they deserve a share of the blame, the failure doesn't rest all on JVG, Yao and Tracy. Our roster just isn't good enough. Pat Riley, Sam Mitchell, Avery Johnson & JVG all lost in the first round but are still good coaches. Some would put Phil Jackson in there too.

Where you come up with this "trying to sound like an authority" bit is a mystery. There are thousands of people here "trying to sound like an authority", yourself included. You are quite the Froot Loop weirdo.

Isn't Morey JVG's direct boss? Since when one need to be consulted to hire his boss?

You know how the NBA works. On some teams, the GM (or whatever the #1 dog in management is called) is indeed the coach's boss. Sacramento, Cleveland and Indiana are examples. But other franchises like San Antonio, Utah and Phoenix give the coach total decision-making power.

The first couple of years, it was very obvious JVG was the decision-maker and CD just pulled the levers to make deals happen. This was a continuation of how it was with Rudy T. When Morey was hired without JVG's consultation, it was clear Morey would be the new man in charge, which upended the power structure and sent a strong message to the coach. That move could have been the beginning of the end of the Les/JVG relationship.

If R.C Buford left the Spurs, do you honestly think Peter Holt would hire someone without consulting with Pop? No way, because Pop is the man in San Antonio. The new GM would actually work for him.

Another example is Rick Smith, the GM of the Houston Texans. Kubiak had the major say in that hire and Smith got the job because of his prior relationship with Kubiak. Even though his title is GM, he works for coach Kubiak, not the other way.

Ideally the GM and coach work together rather than one working for the other one. A GM that doesn't get the type of personel his coach wants is not good, but at the same time it is up to the GM to track drafts in particular because head coaches don't have a ton of time to follow college scouting during the year. GM's take responsibility for make decisions on what is a good or bad contract and veto those because presumably the GM has alot more knowledge of the salary cap issues.
