The Rockets will host Panathinaikos on Oct. 11 in their first preseason game at Toyota Center. Spanoulis starred for Panathinaikos, this season's Euroleague champion, before joining the Rockets.

The Rockets will begin the preseason in New Orleans against the Hornets on Oct. 9 and end it on Oct. 26 against the NBA champion Spurs in San Antonio.

The Rockets will spend most of their preseason taking on Southwest Division opponents, playing the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 18 at Toyota Center and putting in a back-to-back against the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24.

In their one long preseason trip, the Rockets play the SuperSonics in Seattle on Oct. 20.

BTW, Panathinaikos are also playing against the Spurs on the 13th of October...

It's gonna be very interesting cause I think it's the first time the current NBA champions will play against the current Euroleague champions.....

    Holy ****!

    Awesome!

Maybe a good sign that Vspan will be back?

Anyway, for those that don't know, you cannot be a Rockets fan and EVER cheer for Panathinaikos. Their colors are green & white. Their symbol? A shamrock?

    Sound familiar?

    1981. 1986. :(

    F Panathinaikos. F the Celtics.

And I say that the Spurs could run Robert Horry out there solo and somehow still win.

    F the Greek Celtics!

    Go AEK!

On a similar note, Panathinaikos' archenemy Olympiakos' colours are ......Red and White :)

BTW the Celtics were formed in 1946...Panathinaikos as a sports club in 1908 and as a basketball club in 1922 :)

    lolll

Yeah gotta love that red and white. as for vspan the lack of "rumours" in Greek media seems to me like a sign he is coming back to Houston. doubt Sofo will make the trip to the states this coming season though.

It has no relevance with Vspan whatsoever.

    Deceptive thread title.

Vspan is gonna play for Panathinaikos and drop 23pts, 11ast, 7rebs, 5stls, and 0TOs and all Vspan lovers will drink bleach.

No he is not he will drop those numbers on Panathinaikos for the Rockets then in the post game interview he will say...

"This is why Vassili comes to Houston"

"Coach Jeff would not let Vassili handle ball" "Coach Jeff would not promote Vassili"

"I will start over the guy who can't finish and the guy who's name sounds like a bad rapper" "Oh yes Vassili is much better than the Lucus midget and the skinny guy who can only shoot threes"

What extent of training or game experience will the Greek squad have already had when facing the NBAers in early preseason?

it would be cool if the spurs actually take it seriously, but i doubt pops will let his big 3 play too much since it's preseason.

It kinda does. He might be a Rocket next year, or go back to this Greece team.

Unless he plays for the Mavericks.

I wonder what rules they will play by for that game.
