I agree. Lin should start. He is the better player. I like Bev too, he can get major minutes off the bench.
    Go Rockets!

Totally. Right now Mchale could start Canaan for all I care as long as we get the W.

I think you are really on to something here and I look forward to your contributions on this forum for the remainder of the season. Clearly McHale is out to get Jeremy, I mean that much is obvious. He is purposefully trying to shatter his confidence, so Jeremy has a meltdown and McHale can remove him from the rotation all together. The reason why is very unclear. On the surface it seems totally r****ded, but after careful consideration, I can see it too. Never mind that an NBA coach's job is always on the line and there is tremendous pressure for the team to succeed, anyone can see that McHale is just playing mind games for no apparent reason.

That has to be it. The only other explanation is that Lin's fans are overly sensitive cry babies with a false sense of entitlement, who need to get over the fact that shifting lineups and rotations is a normal part of the team building process.

The reason why you are confused is because what you perceive as fact is not actually true, but more of an opinion. McHale did not poorly handle player match ups, minutes, and rotations last season, he was more than adequate.

“I thought (Lin) did a lot of nice things,” coach Kevin McHale said. “He broke people down; he had eight assists. Between he and (Beverley), they had 13 assists and four turnovers. I liked when they were both in the game.”
Lin finished with six points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals. Beverley had 10 points, five assists and two rebounds. McHale praised both for their defense.

“I thought they were both really solid,” he said. “Any mistakes that they do make are mistakes because they’re trying really hard and getting after it. They stay in place. They use their hands. They’re both diligent guys.” - MCHALE (CHRON)

I think it's a matter of system/role/fit. Douglas has similar skillset as Bev, and he was out of favor in NY before linsanity, partly because their system needs a PG with play making skills.

IMO, Bev is as valuable as Lin in our current system. I do think Bev's skillset is that of the ultimate role player(PG version of Battier), while Lin has a high ceiling if he can improve shooting and limit turnovers.

Morey should also experiment with two head coaches and see which works better

for x team that we need more defense, we can get X coach

for team that we need more offense, we can use X coach

whomever is doing better, we can use him during last few minutes of the game

Any diplomacy you've shown towards the never-ending Beverley/Lin discussion seems to have been re-calibrated towards fueling the discussion, at least with this post.

I would have preferred some peace and quiet on the subject until the regular season starts yet if you cannot be trusted to let sleeping dogs lie, then I guess any hope that CF can remain neutral parties through the preseason is futile. I've found your responses amidst heated exchanges with Lin fans to be level-headed and rational. Ironically here, despite not having said anything else, except some Rodney King-like homage to his Can-we-all-get-a long, I felt there was a departure, as if to say - hey look here's the proof. Did you not scream fire in a crowded theater?

The interview was recorded on 10/15/13 and the article was published on 10/21/13, right before the Mavs-Rockets game. I don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to deduce what's going on here. Feel free (or not) to listen to the actual interview on the rockets website. The author took some liberties to draw upon even if McHale's most compelling quote is "we have two starting point guards." We all hear what we want and I think you've been itching to hear something definitive from management re: this subject for so long, you couldn't help yourself. I know I couldn't if I had to balance out the Lin fanaticism on the boards.

My POV on who should start remains Lin, so it's difficult to see this particular link as anything but a strategically and well-timed article that forwards HC's agenda, and I don't mean bashing Lin.

Here's to getting over it  and getting back to work

Doesn't he really have 3 starting point guards?
    Lin - Beverley - Brooks

    2 starting Small Forwards?
    Parsons - Garcia

    2 starting Centers?
    Asik - Howard

    Team is stacked!

Man, if Splitter finished that rejected dunk it would have been completely different. What a play!

Heat small ball probably wouldn't have worked so well with a prime Duncan. The guy is sooo old!

Our small ball isn't bad at all. Dwight/Parsons/Harden/Lin + Bev or Garcia are both really good lineups. Of course, TD/TP/Manu/Kawhi + Green or Bellinelli (Neal last year) is excellent.

Hey, you're free to think whatever you want -- and I'll post what I want. All good.

ETA: But, yes... I'll be woman enough to say that I did take pleasure in posting it, particularly in light of the "Lin fanaticism" circle jerk that was happening in the Take-These-Offensive-Stats-As-Definitive-Proof-That-Beverley-Is-A-Bad-Fit-For-This-Team thread. LOL. I'm still and have always been 100% content with either Jeremy or Beverley starting, and I genuinely like them both. But I do get tired of certain sects totally discrediting any and everything Beverley brings to the table and the palpable delight they take in any stat or false move that can be interpreted as a negative. He may be my favorite player, but I've never, ever, ever been hypercritical of Jeremy or rooted for anything other than his success. When I don't see that reciprocated, it does make me want to take up for my fave. I'm human. ;)
