[Chron] Howard relishes his fresh start in Houston

Awesome. Can't wait for the season to start.

 

Rolling without an alpha, eh? Didn't work out for the Heat, but the Big-Wing dynamic gives me hope.

 

That was my favorite part too. I didnt want to worry about them butting heads about whos team it is.

some one called into 610 radio today and said they met Dwight in aspen and he got really excited when he told him he was from Houston. I guess that caller wasn't bull ****ting after all.

 

Yeah I heard that. He didn't initially mention it but he invited Dwight to a party. Dwight showed up and asked where he was from and he answered Houston.

 

Great read, this man is going to do great things for our city and for his own legacy as a human being. It is good to know we have a real shot at an NBA title in our clear view.

No it's not. He is on the fence, unsure maybe leaning slightly but really not sure and then Houstonian after Houstonian pops in his face. Why can't God make that happen. I don't mean that God made some Houstonians drive in there car to Aspen and spot Howard but rather to just make his mind clear and then he becomes open to the possibilities and they present themselves. There is much more going in this univers that we do not know than we do. Life is a mystery that has yet to be solved. Clarity is a funny thing and it is not with you very much in life. I think Howard had a moment of clarity. And that clarity allowed him to choose Houston.

Not surprised about seeing Houstonians. Lots of Texans go to Colorado in the summer to escape the heat, including my parents.

I live in Vail but was out of town. If I was in town, I definitely would have headed over to Aspen wearing my Rockets jersey to make it seem like some kind of a sign

 

So he signed here for a dumb reason

 

No, he was just given the last push needed to sign with a team he already felt strongly about. The entire time, it was seriously only Rockets, Warriors, and Lakers. I honestly think that he was already heavily favoring Rockets to start off with due to Parsons and Harden. An occurrence that might have been expected by Houstonians seemed too much of a coincidence to him. Basically he's in the Aspens going "Should I go to Houston and leave tons of money on the table?" and then every person he meets was like "Hey I'm from Houston! If you need any business opportunities of x type, feel free to reach out to me!" It's easy to see how that can make a psychological influence.

 

Both Lin and Dwight are religious.

 

Remember news of that jet flying from Houston to Aspen, owned by a former Rockets owner? Apparently the Rockets grabbed a bunch of people off the streets outside Toyota Center and sent them to Colorado to make Dwight think all the people from Houston he's meeting is a sign from God.
