Big Maloe got this proposal from a Laker fan site. Lakers get- Lowry, Martin, Scola We get- Bynum, McRoberts (exp.contract), Blake We would likely have to offer Bud and pick(s) as well, but I'd still do it without a doubt. He's a dumba**, but he's a young 7 ft center with alot of potential to be a very great player and a focal point of the team. And he'd more alot more willing to re-sign with us as opposed to dwight. Waive Dally and sign Gogi, Lee, and Camby back Gogi Lee Parsons/Morris Ppat/Donuts Bynum/Camby
http://www.sportando.net/eng/usa/nb...-enjoy-the-years-i-have-left-as-a-player.html Fair to say Gasol wouldn't mind joining the Rockets after all? I think so.
Gasol will have an All Star regular season putting up 18/10 or whatever. Dont expect him to show up in the playoffs. Hes been unimpressive each of the last 2 years
I certainly hope so. Gasol is a very mature intelligent NBA player who was unfortunately caught on camera after the media informed him he was traded to the Rockets. Howard has me wondering if anti-psychotic drugs might help, and Bynum has a tendency to pout/become unmotivated/disconnect from the team, or something.
Gasol is not the answer! He's on the downside of his career, a whiner, didn't want to come here before so guess what, we don't want you!
Time for talking points! Intelligent and knowledgeable NBA people have stated that Gasol is currently a top 4 center in the NBA. (see Magic's comments this week, and others.) He is also only 32, and looks like he could effectively play several more years. When does he whine? There was the unfortunate tape of him after the media informed him that he was going to be a Rocket. But other than that he keeps his mouth shut, even as Kobe throws him under a bus. He was unhappy when the media informed him of the trade last year, but recently stated that he was open to being traded and finishing out his career playing his best for a different team. Many fans on this site and others would love to see him in a Rocket's uniform. 18/10/2 centers who offer paint protection are about the rarest commodity in the NBA today.
Lowry, Pat Pat, Martin to the Lakers. Gasol to the Rockets. Bynum to Magic for Howard. Lakers would be set for the next 3 to 5 years.
so they give up Bynum and Gasol for Lowry, Patrick Paterrson and Martin? Lol what are you smokin, son
cadastros Bynum and Gasol are not worth Howard and the pieces you indicated. They have a hole at PF too. Those pieces aren't enough
Cumulative injuries from having to play ~40 minutes a night? That god awful scrum beneath the basket caused by Bynum's inability to force the defense to space correctly off of Gasol? Kobe going all black hole? 33 shots and no assists from your SG? The Lakers getting completely exposed for what they are against the leagues better defenses?
you point to everyone else but Gasol. How about holding him accountable for being weak in the playoffs. Thats 4 series in a row 2011 vs Carl Landry & Hornets under Phil Jackson: 36 mins, 13.5 points, 6.8 rebs, 42% FG 2011 vs Dirk & Mavs under Phil Jackson 36 mins, 12.5 points 9.3 rebs, 42% FG 2012 vs undersized Faried/Harrington 36 mins, 13 points, 9 rebs, 43% FG 2012 vs OKC Thunder 38 mins, 12 rebs, 10 rebs 44% FG 4 series in a row. Hardly worthy of the $19 mil/yr contract And what makes you think a 32 yr old who will be playing for Spain this summer wont be tired and wont wear him down as the later part of the season comes into play?
Good points, but he has proved in the past that that he can make a difference in the playoffs. In the right setting with the right team mates he might do it again.
He's gonna be dominant in the Olympics but its fools gold. Playing in Los Angeles does wear a player out and sucks the life out of them with the distractions and glory and criticism and what not. Lamar Odom went from being a 6th man of the year to almost being sent to the D-League. Gasol is a very good player at the end of the day but at 32 I dont see him improving or becoming an All Star ever again. Point being he's not worth the $19mil/yr.
I respect your opinion, and it could possibly turn out to be correct, but who else are the Rockets going to spend the cap space on this year? Is there anyone (beyond DWill) that would make that much difference?
