how do you know? compared to whom? better than who?

cook and dorsey are far from worthless.

everything about this statement is wrong. how hard is that to understand?

He doesn't need to jinx them. Lowry missed 82 games, before he ever put on a Rockets' uniform.

How do you know Conroy won't be there? He could just spend his season in the D-League.

Waiving Cook would be an unintelligent move, which could cost us over 7 million dollars in the end.

And you can't just trade Dorsey and Cook whenever you feel like it. There has to be the right offers on the table. Right now, if we looked like we want to force a trade (like the Stevie Francis one), we'd have to give cash + 2nd round pick for a team like Memphis to get Cook off our hands.

It was between Pops and Conroy, and Pops made the cut.

(Personally, out of the non-guaranteed contracts, I liked Temple the best.)

and what pay for someone not there?

morey already said were playing the waiting game, meaning waiting for a good trade, not gonna just trade to trade.

you said it yourself, dorsey and cook are worthless, leaving scola, landry, anderson and hayes to man up two positions. doesnt seem like a lot now.

How much playing time can the 6-8th PF/C guys get, even if 3 of our rotation PF/C are injured? Will the 2nd team consist of 3-4 PF/C?

even if they play zero minutes, the players as assets have more value than conroy does.

aside from that, the fact that all of our "bigs" have different skillsets means they are situationally useful for a coach that knows how to manage their roles.

Yao Ming, Scola, Landry and Hayes will have to all be injured before Dorsey, Pops, Cook and Andersen get meaningful minutes. If that's the case, then Pops ain't going to be winning any games for us.

We won't need to tank at that point. We will just be outgunned every game until we get a high lotto pick.

    not true.

i bet we will see a lot of situation and matchup-based rotations out of coach adelman this year. as i said earlier, our bigs are not redundant because they all have different skillsets.

i think a lot of our bigs will see time. least likely though will definitely be dorsey and cook. doubt they see much.

it doesnt need to be injury that determines this.

Good news... Either way I'm sure conroy, and temple will play for the rockets d league team the vipers. So both will be availible if needed.

For one thing, people are forgetting that Adelman plans to use Brooks and Lowry at times on the floor together.

So this alone would make a THIRD PG much more valuable than a SEVENTH and EIGHTH C/PF. I guess they are planning on tanking this year. Some of the posters on here are getting their wish.

One more time, here is our roster as it currently stands:

C - Hayes, Andersen, Dorsey, Yao
PF - Scola, Landry, Pops, Cook
    SF - Battier, Budinger
    SG - Ariza, Taylor, McGrady
    PG - Brooks, Lowry

Obviously Morey and Adelman think that center and pf are more important.
If they thought so otherwise, they would've kept Conroy.

I sense a trade centered around Cook, Dorsey, and Barry, if he doesn't already retire.

Of course our roster sucks. Haha, what'd you expect with two max players injured?

You think having Conroy will make that big of a difference?

We can't force a trade just for Conroy. That would cost us a 2nd round draft pick + cash.

Again, there is a GOOD chance that Conroy and Temple will be available if there is an injury.

Brooks and Lowry won't be playing together a lot. Only depending on match ups we will. That duo is good, but not good enough to use it against every team.

If Adelman rotates Cook, Andersen, Dorsey and Pops every 4th game for 10 minutes. They have played 1/4 of the games for only 10 minutes each game.

I don't consider that significant playing time. They need to play at least half the games for 10 minutes.

I think too many here Believe that we have a chance at the championship this year. Pops was the no-brainer after his play. He's young athletic and has upside. Those are the type of players you want to fill out roster with. They may not play, but they could be a nice filler for a trade partner since he's shown he can play in the league.

Since we aren't playing for this year, that 15th spot isn't your 3rd string pg who is there to make sure a championship roster can get through injuries. This is for the team that needs more inside presence even with the # of frontcourt players we have, since Dorsey and Cook shouldnt even be counted. For a 15th man, I think Pops will get a decent amt of playing time, and conroy would have gotten nothing. Lets look for the 3rd string PG (or better yet the future SG who can also play backup point minutes, if needed) towards the end of this season with a trade.
