My guess would be the Harrell contract and whether or not they are going to use part of the MLE to sign him since that would hard cap us.
My guess would be because they can. We are probably their best option for playing time on a contender and the FO is just keeping their options open.
I don't think that would really have an effect on Hayes and Terry because it is extremely doubtful either gets more than the minimum or a 2 year contract.
That would affect it because if you are hard capped then you have to pay luxury tax dollars for every dollar you go over the hard cap
You have to pay luxury tax on every dollar over the LUXURY TAX THRESHOLD ($84.74 million), regardless of whether the team is hard-capped at the apron level ($88.74 million) or not.
Why can't Big Al Williams be the next Chuck Hayes? Or Monstrez Harrell? Both share similar intangibles that made Chuck so beloved, hard working blue collar guys.
Chuck Hayes Kung Fu is not what it used to be. If he's coming over, then it should be as part of coaching staff. He can teach to his hearts content. Would rather go after players with some upside, like Perry Jones. Rumor is Celtics may be willing to part with him. Jones has Josh Smith potential, except more length and a better jumper.
chuck wagon is my guy, loved him back in those old teams representing with a triple double and all but seriously even on a vets min we can do better with the roster spot.
Chuck Hayes is a much better fit for a 15th roster spot than Perry Jones, Christian Wood, or others. The Rockets are competing for a championship, and they need end of the bench guys that will mentor younger players but will be ready to play at a moments notice. Plus, he still knows a thing or two about defense, which D-Mo and T-Jones can stand to learn.
