You do know there is a hard salary cap right?

No, that is news to me....

I do know that the Texans can redo/rework Andre's deal if they wanted. That's the only point I was making.

Look, I'm on record as saying Andre screwed the pooch on this one with his previous dealings with the Texans. They don't owe him anything, but if they were serious about doing anything this year, they're better off with him than without him.

From all reports, he might be back in the fold if they reworked his deal to where he could get that $1MM workout bonus. That's just silly - let's just move on and start focusing on the 2014 season.

I think the more important part is that they don't owe him anything and he doesn't have the leverage to force anything. He only has 2 options, play or retire. He's already cost himself 1 mil by being foolish enough to think he could demand things without leverage, how much more is he going to cost himself before he starts getting realistic?

If all you had to do was show up at camp and pick up a million dollars, and you actively pout and remain at home...and then demand a contract restructure that increases guarantees and also demand recouping a million dollars...please show me which boss would do something even remotely close to that.

I said earlier that you could write the bonus as something he can recoup based on games/snaps played and/or team record at the end of the year. That is win/win. If he shows up in shape, plays well, and the team does well everyone benefits.

You don't give it up for nothing, you make him earn it. Everyone moves on and the focus can return to Washington and Week 1.

Why would you even let him earn it? If he doesn't play well, he only hurts himself....It's like paying someone to prevent them from cutting off one of their arms.

He did say he had already told the Texans how he felt before the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if he told them as soon as the season was over. He was missing the camps before the draft and even though they were voluntary it's a new coach and quarterback here.

The Texans knew. Guess they're just testing AJ like Morey tested Parsons. Or maybe they think Nuk can replace AJ.

the texans knew. they could have drafted a WR at any time, had plenty of time to sign a WR. At least a backup plan. my guess is that they figured Andre would eventually come around. Not looking like it.

They also know that Andre's only options are to play or retire. They probably assume that he'll do what is in his best interest eventually even if he foolishly hasn't thus far. Andre has a lot more to lose than the Texans do.

This is what we wanted out of OB, right? Accountability? No playing favorites? Team first, everybody earns their spot? Not even Andre is immune from this new philosophy. He doesn't show up to camp so he doesn't get his bonus. OB has a certain way of doing things. A method he believes in. He's going to stick to what he feels is the right way to do things and part of that is not giving out bonuses to people who didn't earn them and not letting players (especially ones with no leverage) dictate how the team is run, even if that player is very, very good.

Good man to stick to his principles... I hope that translates into wins on the field. What type of record do you think they will have if AJ doesn't show up...?

Clutch, PLEASE remove that so-called "captain" from the main page... I'm tired of looking at his 'bewildered' @ss!

Its in his contract, Andre not getting his bonus has nothing to do with Bill O'Brien. That contract was set well before BOB. Now if he doesn't allow him to play in the 1st regular season game then we could give him his props for sticking to his word.

lol why would Dre want to play with Schuab again or the Browns who are not even better than us. Only Patriots make sense from a winning standpoint and that will not happen.
