UNDER CONTRACT: G Kevin Martin, F Luis Scola, G Shaun Livingston, F Patrick Patterson, F Marcus Morris, G Gary Forbes, F Jon Brockman, F Chandler Parsons, F Jon Leuer

DRAFT PICKS: G Jeremy Lamb, F Royce White, F Terrence Jones

FREE AGENTS: G Courtney Lee, G Earl Boykins, C Marcus Camby

MOVES: GM Daryl Morey has tried to scramble to add Dwight Howard and a top-flight point guard and may have left his team without a center or a floor general. Before the draft, he dealt Samuel Dalembert to Milwaukee for a swap of first-round picks and three players with dumpable contracts. Although armed with three first-round picks, he was unable to package them for a higher pick to dangle in a package for Howard and now has three rookies on his roster. Stymied on Howard, Morey signed Bulls RFA center Omer Asik to a backloaded three-year, $25 million offer sheet that Chicago likely will match. Morey also signed Knicks RFA point man Jeremy Lin – whom the Rockets cut last year – to a backloaded four-year, $29 million offer sheet that New York almost certainly will match. At the same time, free agent Goran Dragic signed with Phoenix, and Morey traded Kyle Lowry to Toronto for Gary Forbes and a protected first-round pick. Morey’s center is Jon Brockman and his point guard is undrafted rookie Scott Machado.

TO-DO LIST: Morey really hasn’t done anything yet. If Asik and Lin return to their clubs as expected, he can try to re-sign aging Marcus Camby, make a run at Chris Kaman or Brook Lopez or try to overpay JaVale McGee to fill the hole in the middle. At the point, he can try to bring back Aaron Brooks, whom he traded for Dragic just over a year ago, or make a play for Ramon Sessions. And that’s just to fill the holes he has created in the last three weeks.

PROJECTION: Did Morey outsmart himself? There is a lot of offseason left, and plenty can happen. But Houston’s lack of a go-to player and holes on defense were evident in its late-season collapse and it has gotten considerably worse since the end of the season.

Morey is playing chess. Chris Sheridan only understands checkers.

    Amazingly trenchant analysis.

    Deeper than the Marianas.

I'm going to have to make it a point to read a lot more Chris Sheridan going forward.

"Spiderman - it's a movie that was just made a few years ago, but they're making it again. It's about a guy who turns into a spider....you may have heard of the musical."

OK... if you put it that way, yea, it doesn't look good. But when you look ahead and see us with the fifth draft pick in a four impact player deep draft, then add in more 14th draft picks... and you see the rainbow.

He made no mention of Sergio Lull or Donatas Montiejunas.

p.s. am I the only one who gets the feeling that Morey talked Les into going all in on Howard knowing that the worst case (and most likely) scenario is they would have no more option but to rebuild (tank)?

Unfortunately, Chris Sheridan's only reputable quality is being known for being singled out by Shaq as an ******* and subsequently blackballed. He has no insider info.

lol he put down Gary Forbes as a Guard.

Basically 3 Guards - Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and Shaun Livingston.
    0 Centers.
    The rest Forwards.

Also there is no point in bringing Motiejunas (another forward) in the mix. He'll never get playing time. Might else well trade him.

This team is downright awful.... at the end of the season our best player may be Lamb or White.

I dont see how he is wrong if all thats true about Chicago and Knicks matching. That might be the fairest estimate of what happened so far.

Damn what do people expect?? Lebron?? Hell at least the Man Trying Dang!!! It's Takes TWO HELL EVEN THREE!! The Player has to want to come here as well... When NY,LA Miami and Chicago in Cap Hell then Maybe we Get Lucky!! Till then, Deal with it... it's a Twitter Age and everyone wants to be a Celeb and Make Money off from the court!! Most of our players was built around Yao and Tracy.. When Tracy left.. we should have to start to rebuild then... but we didnt.. anyone to Blame is Our Owner... He wanted Barkley, Pippen, Francis, McGrady... He got what he wanted but the Magic was Over!!! IF anything we need a New Owner....
