Surprisingly the best get for LAC was Montrezl, who has looked really good in his limited role. Still, getting Paul has been unbelievable. When do the playoffs start??? (Rhetorical question, I've got it marked on my calendar)
I didn't like losing Lou, Trez, Bev, for simply one player, CP3. Today, I am humbled by Daryl. He used the loss of some good players as an opportunity to fill the roster up with players that are even more complementary to the team in addition to CP. Hindsight, this was probably the 2nd greatest trade since James Harden.
Loved it at the time. Didn’t care about any of the players we lost. Needles to say I still feel the same way.
Only thing I was salty about was randomly throwing in Montrezl last minute, BUT....would do that a million times over for CP3.
James Harden on being teammates with Chris Paul: “I don’t mean to sound too mushy or whatnot, but it was like love at first sight.”
Robbed, i'm not sure. but Morey should've tried to hold on to Trez. you want defense, rebounding, and hustle? too bad, you packaged him away in a trade because CP is life.
I was one of the no voters--not because I didn't want Chris Paul, but because I felt we gave up too much at the time for a guy who was going to leave anyway. If someone gives you bev, Lou, and Dekker for free, they should take it. It shouldn't require including the first rounder AND Montrezl. Maybe one, but not both. I know Morey said he tried hard to keep Montrezl, but it's hard to believe they wouldn't have done the deal without him. They would have folded at the deadline.
The deadline was 1 day. Chris told the clippers he was opting out if he wasn't traded. The deal had to be done quickly. Chris wouldn't be able to sign here as a free agent unless he took a MAJOR discount. The Clippers were in the power position here.
