makes plenty of sense if you're an actual championship caliber team with no other realistic options. you trying to play this hindsight view doesn't change that. What we can actually say is them no investing in real backups is where they took a hit.
Paul was signed for too much money. Period. There's no hindsight involved. This is real reason the Clippers traded him.
plenty of hindsight. he earned every bit of that money. it makes absolutely no sense for all the whiners to be complaining about it. the real reason the clippers traded him was bc he didnt want to be back. nvm the fact they were going to give him max money. your little theory is false
I just don't think this is the Rockets year is all whether they make the playoffs or not. Next year though I do think is their next best chance at getting a ring. KD is likely to leave the Warriors and there should be roster shake ups that could make predicting who will win it all less predictable. A half season and off season of CP3 truly rehabbing and getting in NBA shape next season to be healthy enough for one more run is our best chance as well as some good offseason moves to work on our current weaknesses like depth.
You say "earned" as if he deserves to be paid for previous production. No. We need *current/future* results. Steve Ballmer saw this coming a mile away.
yea he sure does. and bringing in guys like tucker and lmm with him. so yup he earned it. once again your theory makes no sense but keep believing in it
All I can add to this discussion is that CP3 is worth $40 million a year at age 34 with the injury history he has then Harden is worth $400 million a year.. Harden is younger, still in his prime, stronger, and day in and day out contributes much more to the team than CP3. I have never been a big fan of CP3. Harden on the other hand, best Rocket ever not named Hakeem.
Don't forget bringing in Melo. Selfish Chris sold his Woodlands home because he was too cheap/selfish to pay the neighborhood dues. Selfish Injured Chris
Lol that's simply not how it works and not even worth making that observation. What's the practical use of that?
The point is we need a decent back up PG to give Harden rest and to run the second team. Harden does fine on his own with the first team scoring, assists, etc. It's too late to not do the trade but I liked having Beverly on the team. We won just about as many games with him as we did with CP3. I would also love to have Harrell, Lou Williams, Decker, and 1st round pick back not to mention be on the hook for another $160 million for an injury prone, past his prime, over rated point guard.
CP3 hasn't won any rings either has he? Last time I counted he has a big fat ZERO. About as many as Charles Barkley.
That's because Morey put all his Money on Paul and Clint and rolled the dice with that option and min salary backups.
sure had alot more success than anyone in your previous post and the reason why hou took the next step into the elite category just a few months ago
not investing in quality backups is not on anyone else but the players that had no interest in coming here and the willingness to spend. championship teams spend, there's absolutely no getting around that
"We can rebuild him. We have the technology..." "Sir, we can't. We spent all our money on his contract."
If it were possible, I would have loved to have taken our chances with the team or half of the team we gave away to get Chris Paul. I would love to have Harrell and Decker and Beverley and Lou Williams coming off the bench. That is the main reason Clippers are good this year and we are inconsistent to some time suck this year.
