I don't blame Morey for signing Paul (overpaying, probably) but I do blame him for this. These backup scrubs will just lose games.
They also helped Grant Hill, Shaq, and Steve Nash play well into his late 30’s. They are considered one of the best Medical training staffs in the game.
Too bad about Chris Paul. We had two choices at the end of last year: don't sign Paul and close the championship window, or sign him and hope to god that he maintained the level of play and relative health of last season for a couple more years, extending our window. Unfortunately that has obviously not come to pass, and now it looks like we are screwed.
If the Rockets had an adequate backup point guard, CP could rest on the second half of B2Bs and play less than 30 minutes each game. Why invest all that money in CP if you are going to run him into the ground? Makes no sense.
Unfortunately, it's going to take something like this for them to realize they need to invest in a rotational pg. those type of pg's are reluctant to come here because there isn't a clear role for them. When the ball will always be in the hands of harden/cp3. there isn't a time when one isn't on the floor when both are able to play. Guys of that caliber dont want to sign here and just sit on the bench. Now, the rockets are going to need to convey the message that cp3 will be rested more often than not so playing time will be there and itll probably take a few extra mil as well
I think @Codman indicated in a post from yesterday it was unlikely the Rockets would sign Austin Rivers because of his relationship with CP. Which is not good. But do desperate times call for desperate measures? @Codman talks about #DecreaseTheDrop but the DROP is here NOW. What's next? How "calculated" (#chess) can Morey afford to be when there are issues RIGHT NOW staring at him in the face?
Playing EG at SF certainly opens up minutes at backup point guard for them. That's what I would sell at this point. But yeah, your initial point is well taken. And it is something Morey has commented on before about the up and down minutes at that position.
Morey, wake up and do your job.if you have a dog and he can't walk, what do you do? You either get him fixed, or you get another dog.Do something or quit, and let someone who will.
More likely than not the Rockets just use MCW and BK more to increase his trade value. Once people see that Knight can play every night it will ease their minds and we can then trade him for a package of players. If we could move Gordon and Knight in separate deals and somehow come up with a dearth of talented players coming off the bench that would be wonderful. The more depth the better. It’s probably really impossible but if we could somehow swing a 4 team deal and get a bunch of pieces back for Knight, Gordon, Chriss and Melo that would be fantastic. Contracts like KCP, Justin Holiday, Vucevic/Robin Lopez, and Simmons are all assumedly available. Could also try to pry away Rozier and Brown and Baynes for Gordon and Chriss. Possibly closer to the deadline Porter Jr and Markieff Morris if we can hold out that long. Otherwise...they should start to think about tanking. Zion and some of those other players out there are starting to look really nice.
yeah for sure. EG should never be playing pg and trying to create for others in extended time. I get it when they're forced to do so with no other options. It's going to be interesting to see, depending on the severity of cp3's latest hamstring pull what they're going to do. Just trying to think of some realistically obtainable pg's or even combo guards to fill the void in the meantime that will fit
If the rockets can stay in the 7-8 seed mix until the trade deadline, more options will be available to them. I am thinking that's what Morey is hoping for.
I am sure that is what Morey is hoping for. But look at the West. CP is down and they are 0-5 without him. Look at the schedule. It is going to take a bunch of wins to stay in that 7/8 seed mix. Without reinforcements, tough to see how they can manage that. Not being negative, just looking at how they have navigated those waters so far this season.
please explain to the board the correlation bw this post and a hamstring injury. would love to hear it
In the same way that shooting more midrange instead of threes would catapult us into a different stratosphere of offensive greatness, more midrange would have confused Miami so much in that game that Paul wouldn’t have had to over exert himself on that one play that injured him.
With CP3 out what's our rotation look like now? Starters: Knight Harden Ennis Tucker Capela Bench: Gordon Green//House/Clark Nene Hartenstein? Not looking good as far as depth goes.
