Harden hasn’t led a team alone past the second round. He got bailed out by Josh Smith 3 years ago and CP3 turned it up against the Jazz this year
Funny thing. . . it can be YOUR TEAM but you not be the Leader I don't think this matters Rocket River I DON't CARe
In a lot of ways, Kevin McHale was mediocre. And he shouldn't have said on TV that Harden wasn't a leader. But he was right about that. And the Rockets acknowledged as much by going for Chris Paul, who, among other things, brought the overt leadership Harden lacked. And Harden, to his great credit, went along with it. He knew what he wasn't, even if he despised the way McHale said it. I'm not saying this to insult Harden. He's a genius at what he does. But most of us aren't natural leaders, and he isn't, either. What's rare is the star who's both humble and clear-eyed enough to put someone else in that role.
Funny. CP3 is the one that had never gone past the 2nd round before this year. Hopefully they both get a ring next year.
I don’t think it’s a knock on Harden who is clearly better player then Chris but CP3 is more a vocal character and is more demonstrative out there. Harden is more Melo.Is Green better then Curry and Durant!? No but he is clearly the leader of the Warriors.
CP3 is the leader. Harden is the MVP. Without Harden, we would have been bounced early in the playoffs. Without Paul, we wouldn't have made it to game 7 against the Warriors. /thread.
Having CP3 part of the organisation for the next few seasons is huge for Harden. Clearly they have chemistry on and off the floor, so you’d hope James can develop leadership skills under CPs watchful eye. James has plenty going for him - ridiculous talent most notably. He’s clearly a likeable dude, teammates enjoy playing with him etc, but once the whole #swagchamps thing gets a bit old and CP3 is gone, the franchise will need him as a leader like never before. Not everyone is a born leader, but it can definitely be taught. Can’t think of a better guy in the league as a teacher than CP3.
Harden needed a superstar talent to play with. CP3 fit that bill. Actually, they need as much talent as they can get to compete with the Warriors. Leadership is fine, but the leader damn well better be a leader with superstar talent.
It's ok not to be a vocal stereotype leader -- Harden is a chill dude and needs to play his game and stay in his lane. CP3 is the perfect compliant to Harden's skill set and demeanor.
