Ah yes let's beat on this dead horse again

Yao didn't grow up in America, where mommy and daddy drive you to McDonald's after your lacross practice

His education and training were paid for by the government and he has an obligation to fulfill their request. Right now, he's pretty much free to do whatever he wants to. If he truly doesn't want to play he just needs to say he's injured, it's that simple

I know the Chinese government is an easy target to bash when you've got nothing else interesting to say but jeez stop overreacting

Perhaps they don't need Yao to win this particular tournament but they don't want to just win..the Chinese want to dominate, especially if they are the hosting country.

Yes Yao deserves a rest 100%, but they don't have to give it to him.

Give me a break. Other than Yao, they still have a few current and ex-NBA players. Do you honestly believe that's not enough to win in an Asian championship? Yao played with one foot (while he was still injured) for them in the Olympics last year and he had done more than enough for his home country already. Please do not use the 'they need Yao' excuse anymore. It's getting old. Like I have said before, they do NOT need Yao to win in this competition. It's just that plain and simple. Yao needs and well-deserves a rest this summer.

No one is arguing he doesn't deserve a rest- If they want him to play then he will play. The Chinese can just as well say if the Rockets want Yao to rest then they can rest him 9 months in the year.

China has 5000 years history, there are something that americans dont understand.

Chinese people can put yao on the top, they also can burn him in the hell

Today he is a hero, tomorrow he will be a traitor if he refuse to play for his motherland.

From their perspective, they could probably care less if Houston has a well rested Yao for the NBA season. As long as he's still collecting checks for them, there really isn't any incentive to give a damn about how rested he is for the NBA.

I completely agree that he deserves a rest, and that they don't need him. But face it, there isn't exactly an incentive for them to not use him.

I mean, according to the Chinese, we're the dicks that wear him out for 9 months out of the year before he plays for them.
