For those of you still looking to fix our roster, or are having trouble after the trade deadline, let me re-introduce you to the all-new Onuaku. Said it before, but to repeat: I've never seen a player improve more over a shorter period of time. Next year, he'll be a key contributor. I know that you've all seen his FT stroke (7-10 last night), but this guy isn't a one-hit wonder. He actually has a growing package of true big man skills. And he's really young. Below is his 27 pt / 20 board game from last night on the road. Check it out.
I see he's finally being more aggressive around the rim and dunking. Looks to have more spring. He has nice vision and is a solid passer. CO definitely has potential.
I think the Rockets should bring him up and see what he can do before the playoffs begin. Maybe, just maybe he could be of some use against teams with oversized centers.
Nanu only 12 years old too. looks great at this stage of development. What will he look like when he reaches puberty!?
I wonder how that speed+height will translate for him in the NBA. Most NBA bigs can close out on a couple of those jumpers. He is a lot more aggressive though it seems.
I too am very pleased and pleasantly surprised at Chinanu's progress. I like his short jump hook. The D-League stint has really helped him out. He should be ready for meaningful minutes next season. Keep up the good work young man. Make Houston proud of you.
Starting to dominate the D Leaguers. This seems to be a basic indication of becoming ready to contribute in the NBA.
love the dudes passing game. going to beat the drum that a few posters have pointed out: the dude has improved SO much. remember how raw he was in summer league?
His advanced stats were great in college. That doesn't mean he'll make it in the NBA but it helps. He was one if the players I wanted us to draft (the other was McCaw).
Yep. And if he has a reliable 15 ft jumper, teams will have to guard him in the high post. Assuming he's playing Center, that leaves the basket wide open, with the goalie 15 ft away, and 4 shooters/cutters swirling around cutting to the rim and flashing open for 3's.
