unleash the beast.....foes from the East, foes from the West, be warned that you are going to be punished...by the BEAST...Chinanu Onuaku
Man, he looks really really raw to me. And a little slow. But then again, I thought Capela was the second coming of Thabeet in his first season. Is Jack Sikma down in the D-league working with Onuaku? Capela really benefited from working with the big-man coach, IMO.
At this point I feel like James can make anyone look good, doesn't matter. Start Nene, bring Trez off the bench early and spot mop with Joshua Smith. Get ready to see that three point record obliterated
He is a foul machine in the d league and has trouble staying in the game. Would be good for 5-10 minutes and 3-6 fouls in NBA action at this point. Needs more seasoning at RGV.
God, how do you cover just ONE team and not know where their only drafted rookie was drafted? Calvin Watkins SUUUUCK.
For those curious, Onuaku is averaging 10.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 blocks with 62.8% shooting in 16 games with the D-League this season. Those certainly aren't spectacular numbers by any means against D-League level competition, but it gives me hope that he could feasibly be the emergency third center on the roster while Cilnt is out. That being said, I'd feel much more comfortable if Morey could sign a cheap veteran center to be that third guy for the next six weeks. I just don't know that this kid is ready.
Chinanu's skill set is Ok, but raw. His speed is quite slow. He will need to run much faster, in the NBA. Let's hope that he can show some good flashes of play.
The days of Nene not playing B2Bs are over for now until Capela gets back. If Onuaku is not ready to contribute, you have to waive him or include him in a trade and bring in someone who is. You can't have a wasted roster spot at a position of need with a team that actually has a chance to contend.
He has a decent defensive rating and a very good rebound % in the d-league. Wiltjer has an unbelievable offensive rating and meh defensive and rebound %. Nene will not hold up under much of an increase in usage so we need a body that can defend and rebound.
Not that Clint is some All-NBA great, just Nene's been much worse at interior defending. Harrell might challenge some shots, though he might have a ZERO REBOUND game like he did last game. It'll have to be a team effort to make up the defecit.
Not really. Just a matter of who they have been surrounded with. Remember MDA called Nene a top 5 center after we got him. Guarantee you he looks very good with the starters just like CC did. Both of them are a mirage as starters. They look and will look a lot better than they actually are. Nene is a good value backup. We still need a starter upgrade to both.
