neither. Dallas has GSW 2nd round pick. The get the right to swap it with the Rockets 2nd round pick. So basically, they get the higher of the 2 picks.
But it's GSW and Hou. Both are going to be late 2nd rd'ers and PROBABLY 4 apart at the most.

So essentially it was a move to clear a roster spot, save a little $ off luxury tax, and maybe get a slightly better future 2nd round pick.

I still like the move but Rockets didn’t get a decent asset in the trade. Onuaku was the 37th pick...hoped we could have got back a pick of similar value. Oh well.

Maybe Morey got tired of trying to pronounce his name, and he never answered to "Chin".

Please explain what does it mean if the protections are met, Houston will send 500,000 dollars instead?

    Sounds like they are sending
    1) the 1.5 to cover his salary
    2) Rockets top 39 protected 2nd OR an additional 500k if they don't turn over the pick.

Then more favorable of Warriors and HOU 40-60 (via DAL swap of Warriors for HOU) or Warriors if HOU 31-39.

So assuming HOU and GS both are good in 2020, Dallas gets another 500k and the better of our 2nd or the Warriors 2nd and we get the other pick.

Nope. If both HOU and GSW are good in 2019-20, then the $500k will NOT be paid. Just the pick swap. If HOU is better than GSW, then DAL won’t even realize that benefit, either!

I'm not sure how this trade benefits the Mavs.

Great, now that Tillman is giving away 2nd round picks to get rid of minimum salary guys.

It's most likely cash that he's giving away. Enter @HP...

Man, I had hoped for all three of them...
-GP2: thought he could develop into a Bev replacement
-Cam: he shot pretty well in the summer league. Thought he could take minutes from Ryno
-Nanu: what’s not to love about underhanded free throws???

GP II is gonna make it in this league, it will just take a couple more difficult years. What he should do is spend this year in Europe launching 3's and running an offense, then spend the following season as a minimum signing on a team with a vet PG.

they even copied our new slogan Run it Back, can't believe they're actually really bringing back one of the most pathetic playoff teams in recent memory

Once the spurs, jazz or heat get a hold of GP II he'll put it together. He's a system player
